Grundisburgh drunk woman punched taxi driver, court told

https://www.eadt.co.uk/news/25898541.gr ... ourt-told/

A woman became aggressive after being refused service by a taxi driver who was worried she would vomit in the back of his car, a court heard.

The taxi driver arrived to collect several customers from a pub in Sutton, near Woodbridge, on March 22, 2024.

This group included 41-year-old Natasha Potter. When she climbed into the back of the cab, the driver realised that Potter was “very drunk”. He did not want to drive her, as he was concerned she may be sick in the back of his vehicle, Suffolk Magistrates’ Court was told.

When he told Potter this, she became “aggressive”, the court heard.

She then sat upright and punched the taxi driver in the head multiple times before reaching out and “strangling” him with his seatbelt, racially abusing him as she did so. The taxi driver’s glasses broke during this assault.

Potter appeared in the dock before Ipswich magistrates on Monday, where she admitted racially aggravated assault occasioning actual bodily harm and racially aggravated criminal damage.

Potter, of Orchard End, Grundisburgh, will return to court for sentencing on March 26 to allow for a pre-sentence report to be written.
