What was I saying about Greenock the other day?

Difference this time is that's it's a more predictable male doing the battering, instead of two females lamping each other.

And this time it's the driver who's the target :-|

But I'd guess an apt description of the (alleged) perp here wouldn't be 'level-headed'...

Greenock man charged with punching taxi driver and breaking window

James Orr allegedly opened the door of the car while the man was driving and repeatedly punched him on the head and body.

Orr, 40, is also said to have seized hold of a partially open window in the car and pulled it, causing the glass to shatter.

He is charged with repeatedly running towards the vehicle, and repeatedly kicking and stamping on one of the doors.

Orr, of MacGillivary Avenue, Greenock, is also alleged to have behaved in a threatening or abusive manner, shouted, swore and acted in an aggressive and disorderly manner.

The offences are said to have been committed on August 3, 2025.

The matter has been continued without plea to the summary case management court on March 6 to allow for disclosure of evidence.

A bit more context here. But not so much detail about the actual attack, so he doesn't sound quite so crazy here :?

Greenock man admits repeatedly punching taxi driver

https://www.greenocktelegraph.co.uk/new ... xi-driver/

A GREENOCK taxi driver was repeatedly punched in a violent assault after he happened upon a 'disturbance' in the early hours of the morning, a court has heard.

James Orr attacked the man during an incident in Ladyburn Street on August 3 last year.

The 64-year-old taxi driver was on duty at the time of the assault.

He observed a disturbance – involving Orr - when he turned on to Ladyburn Street at around 2:25am.

While ‘keeping an eye’ on the incident, the driver slowed his vehicle down.

Orr’s attention was drawn to the car and he began running directly towards it.

The 40-year-old opened the driver’s door and ‘immediately’ started throwing punches at the man’s head and body.

The driver’s adult granddaughter was in the vehicle with him at the time of the assault.

Police were contacted via 999 and attended a short time later, where they took photographs of the driver’s injuries. This included bruising to his right forearm.

Greenock Sheriff Court heard that Orr had already made off from the scene before officers arrived.

He pleaded guilty to the assault charge through solicitor Aidan Gallagher on Friday.

Orr, of Ardmore Road, also faced an allegation of behaving in a threatening or abusive manner likely to cause a reasonable person to suffer fear or alarm on the same date, but his plea of not guilty was accepted by the Crown.

Sheriff Anthony McGeehan deferred sentencing until April 1 and requested that a background report be prepared in advance of the next calling.
