Nothing particularly different here. EXCEPT the photos, which are, er, illuminating :-o

And the narrative on the Facebook post here is a bit different from the more normal deadpan police output...

And for the purposes of the thread title I'm assuming the blue Prius here was suspended, but we're not specifically told that

Taxi Safety Check Operation!

https://www.facebook.com/GMPRochdale/po ... 791988578/

Today, Heywood Neighbourhood officers, GMP Licensing officers and colleagues from the Local Authority Taxi Licensing unit are conducting a proactive operation to ensure taxis operating in our area meet the required safety and licensing standards.

What We’re Checking:

- Vehicle roadworthiness – because no one wants a taxi that’s more “road-worn” than “roadworthy.”
- Valid licences and insurance – because “I swear I have insurance” doesn’t quite cut it.
- Compliance with local taxi regulations - because rules are rules, even if your satnav thinks otherwise.

This proactive operation is part of our commitment to keeping passengers safe and ensuring that all taxi services operate fairly and responsibly.

Operation results:

- Stops Made: 13 taxis were stopped during the operation.
- Warnings Issued: 13 warnings were given to drivers for various compliance issues.
- Licence Suspensions: 3 drivers had their licences suspended due to breaches of safety or licensing regulations.

This demonstrates a robust approach to ensuring compliance and maintaining passenger safety. It is recommended to follow up on the warnings issued to ensure corrective actions are taken and to monitor the suspended licences for any appeals or further investigations.

Your Safety is Our Priority!

If you have any concerns about a taxi or private hire vehicle, please report your local licensing authority.

For what it's worth, these are the high-res versions of the photos :-o

To be fair, three of them seem to be the same car. And that back end damage could well have just happened, and it's presumably all caused by the same incident, so maybe the driver just got unlucky.

But certainly not the tidiest looking motors, but maybe that's why they were stopped [-(

But check the high-res versions carefully, and although they've obviously attempted to anonymise the photos, they've left one identifying detail in one of the images...

So the last photo shows the rear window plate with a clearly identifiable number...

Which I used via the Rochdale licensing register to identify the car, which is a 2007 motor with more than 300,000 miles on the clock at the last MoT :-o

To be fair, though, for a car of that age its MoT history isn't bad:

https://www.check-mot.service.gov.uk/re ... calls=true

And I wondered why one of the Facebook comments said that many of the Rochdale cars wouldn't even be plated in Wolverhampton. But, of course, a car of that age would be well beyond even the Wolves age rule

Also talk in the comments about how Knowsley cars are taking over from the Wolves PHVs as regards cross-borderers. I wonder what Knowsley's age rule is and how it compares with Wolverhampton's?

Anyway, at face value the results aren't particularly out of the ordinary - three suspended out of 13 stopped. And 13 warnings, which could be for not very much. I mean, the other car's rear window plate is missing, so it could be stuff like that. Or maybe it was suspended and that plate removed :?

The origin of vehicle age rules is because of vehicles like that

I think you're being a bit harsh, Edders [-(

I mean, apart from the bumps, scrapes, bumper broken in two places, the ropey tape repair over the rear boot lip, the dowdy and dodgy paintwork, the dodgy repair on the front wing, the scruffy wheels, the deficient-looking headlights, the fact it's done 300,000 miles and is 19-years-old, blah blah, I'm sure there's nothing particularly wrong with it.

And I'm sure that apart from the stuff self-evident in a couple of photos, it's all otherwise in great nick, and the interior immaculate :---)
