ECPH, have negotiated a Concierge style booking desk directly opposite domestic arrivals offering BAA customers, up to 30% OFF normal Taxi Rates. There's even assistance laid on to help customers with their luggage.

Now how much is it to work at the Airport Rank? Is that £38 a month and £2 at the barrier for a damn good rogering?

Never mind boys, I am sure ECPH, will have pulled the airport rank from underneath you very shortly.

Oh and did I forget to mention, their new taxi booking facilities through www.lastminute.com and www.expedia.co.uk? Plus, their blue tooth advertisement technology targeting the customers' phones the minute they step off their flights.

Admitadlly ecph are trying their hardest to generate work but there are other factors that hamper the black cabs in this that the trade have not had much say in the matter

1. Edinburgh airport put the rank up for tender. City n central didn't approach BAA. BAA told thee taxi trade this was happening

2. The airports positioning of the rank doesn't help customers with ease of access to a black cab, especially with disabled/handicap/wheelchair users but I belive this is to be changed with the renovations at the front of the concourse

3. ECPH will never have full control of the taxi ranks. Why? Private hire have no wheelchair accessabililty for one example


I wouldn't be surprised if city and central follow suit soon and provide a similar service of putting a desk in the airport at arrivals but unfortunetly the inititave has already been thought up by the private hire companies

aye but what is more unfortunate is if big if, crt/central do put a booking office in they wouldn't be offering a discount would they.

I don't think you're quite getting this LongshanksED. If and when they need a vehicle with wheelchair facilities, all they'll do is phone the job away to City or Central.

I've got it!!! I know how we can fight back. It's time to call on City and Central's Committees, to fight back against the evil scourge of ECPH. What chance will they have with the Bawbag McVey, the Dodster, and Murray at the helm of the new super company. I can see them now, all suited up and ready to spring into action, while collectively sharing one brain cell between them. It's going to be a massacre!!! It's going to get Bloody!!!

Skull this is nothing new ph have had a desk before and it did not work for a number of reasons

Ali there drivers are telling me that the disscount is not working as well as u may have been told and the reason is there is a big drop in work right now for every one

Start with a cage containing five monkeys.
Inside the cage, hang a banana on a string and place a set of stairs under it. Before long, a monkey will go to the stairs and start to climb towards the banana. As soon as he touches the stairs, spray all of the other monkeys with cold water.
After a while, another monkey makes an attempt with the same result - all the other monkeys are sprayed with cold water. Pretty soon, when another monkey tries to climb the stairs, the other monkeys will try to prevent it.
Now, put away the cold water. Remove one monkey from the cage and replace it with a new one. The new monkey sees the banana and wants to climb the stairs. To his surprise and horror, all of the other monkeys attack him.
After another attempt and attack, he knows that if he tries to climb the stairs, he will be assaulted.
Next, remove another of the original five monkeys and replace it with a new one. The newcomer goes to the stairs and is attacked. The previous newcomer takes part in the punishment with enthusiasm! Likewise, replace a third original monkey with a new one, then a fourth, then the fifth. Every time the newest monkey takes to the stairs, he is attacked.
Most of the monkeys that are beating him have no idea why they were not permitted to climb the stairs or why they are participating in the beating of the newest monkey.
After replacing all the original monkeys, none of the remaining monkeys have ever been sprayed with cold water. Nevertheless, no monkey ever again approaches the stairs to try for the banana. Why not? Because as far as they know that's the way it's always been done round here.
