I charge that the system, as administered by the Law officers involved, is intent on negating the rights of taxi drivers to operate under the protection of the Law, because of institutional laziness and possibly even a desire not to record crimes which would have an adverse effect on crime statistics.

In adopting this position and the flawed operational procedures which support it, not only is Lothian and Borders Police negating the rights of individuals to the protection of the Law, and allowing thieves to get off Scot free, but it is also potentially placing at risk members of the public whose conduct could incite a violent response from those whom they refuse to pay for a legitimately incurred taxi fare.
