sussex man did you know that the 203020 case which was supposed to take years to come along is due may 05?only five months away, there may also be another row about which vehicles they are entitled to operate
if they win, as their plates were granted before the new wav s rule was implemented they may go for saloons, none of the hacks i talked to tonight have heard of any meeting and with only two weeks till the 28 day deadline finishes they had better move fast ,im off on a christmas shopping trip to london for a few days and wont be back till wed i dont expect any news will have changed by then when im there i may try and order a doblo to save me time for when i get back....

Scot, yes my driver does pay tax, when he had his own licence he got himself into all sorts of bother with the taxman, now his books are done and on time every year.
Dusty there are restrictions up in Scotland re pub licences, window cleaner licences etc.You just can`t open up premises anywhere but existing licences can be transferrred to anyone (fit and proper of course)
If anyone can just open up a pub where you live please let me know and i`ll come down there to work.I`ve been trying to get a pub licence in the village for years, can`t get one due to enough pubs in the area (unmet demand, sound familiar?),window cleaners are also restricted, same case scenario. So you have to get existing licences and premises by purchasing them or taking over unprofitable business`s.
So although there are restrictions on pub, widow cleaners etc, any person can still own any of these business`s by getting the existing licence transferred.Try getting a taxi licence transferred up here,it`s restrictive business practice (EU directive),only difference is that nobody up here want`s to spend a vast ammount of money on going ahead with the council. All will be rectified shortly when la`s will be under the one goverment directive on licencing and other matters.
 be happy

thank you cabbie85 us chaps should stick together, together we will defeat them.

There's not really a lot you can do about a town de-limiting Mr Chap, and don't let any expensive lawyers tell you otherwise, you'll just be wasting your money.

As for the 203020 appeal, all that seemed to do was delay the issuing of plates, it would have happened eventually anyway when 203020 won the case.

By the way, what exactly is are the new plates in Dundee doing that is so wrong - all they're doing is exactly what you seem to be doing.

im back after a very expensive shopping trip down london way while there i used three different taxis and couldn,t believe all three new about the dundee situation one even asked what happened to that larry duncan chao? every cabbie should experience what london cabbies are putting up with concerning traffic to appreciate their own situation, ill never complain about taking 15 mins to get into town again, im dissapointed not to see a load of posts from dundee chap about the meeting he was shouting about before i left, i phoned another cabbie early today and as i predicted there was no meeting however eight diehard hopefulls turned up at handys thinking there was,i have also been told that teles are now offering to finance wavs for anybody who cant get finance for themselves, this should be good for another 50 upwards of wavs appearing any views dundeechap? im off for some kip....

Scot, the FORD and the Vw transporter conversions have been kicked into touch by Dundee Council,I know of one guy who has taken on a ford and is now going to either white plate it or try to get out of the finance agreement.Wonder if all the "new" licencee`s will have to fork out for a tx11 or euro7 just to get on the road.

great i go away for three days and all hell breaks loose, before i buy any vehicle im getting it in writing from the council first so at least ill have something to fall back on ,transporters were okay 6 days ago?theres talk of a dta meeting to stop the council setting a date for all present hacks turning wav this could be what dundeechap was getting mixed up about,
if the new applicants can make a living off wavs it will be difficult for old ones to argue that they cant, maybe it would be better to have only tx11s
and euro7s there wont be so many ,well done teles another taxi company bought out only two to go and it will be teles running the show....

Think the time has come to stop the bickering if Scott you wish to put on a WAV the best of luck probably see you bankrupt shortly. I think Dundee council should have giving 203020 the first chance to put these cab's on and we would'nt all be argueing about it now . As for an individual paying that kind of money for a cab in Dundee they better think seriously first the best of luck your going to need it.

dundeechap im finding it hard to believe your age55?reading your posts you sound like 16,i refuse to be drawn into namecalling and threats because thats childish,i asked you a civil question (whats your view on teles offering to finance wavs for anyone)ill give my view in a civilised way to show you how its done,
1 if any driver wishes to go this way he is entitled to and i would not have a problem with this
2 if a hired plate wishes to go this way he also should be entitled to
3 if someone with a full time job turns up and asks for finance etc unchecked which they will be they should be refused but this will not happen
cabbie 85 anyone can get a wav for 60 a week the same as a skoda so there will be no bankruptsys the individuals who have applied for these plates are already driving taxis and know how much they take in in a week or they would not be applying for them as for costs 60 finance 60 insurance and 70 fees doesnt even account for saturdays take ,this leaves six nights earnings plus if your luckily enough your drivers cut
last friday after fuel i had 204
sat i had 242
sun 134
and that was only the weekend how many drivers are sitting right now thinking sod giving him half ill go own my own? if ops didnt cram the cabs with drivers they would not know how much was involved and wouldnt want a cut, dundee chap you are right im an amateur by your standards who started off a driver but no doubt so did you ,and it does,t matter how many years you have behind you the times have changed do you remember when the council could remove a plate if you had a full time job?let them try that now,as far as im led to believe the dta has accepted
what the council has set down and are now wanting the new applicants as members but this has not been confirmed,i was working tonight and heard on the rank that some were not happy about teles progress in purchasing another office most from said office, i have always been a handy person but after the buy over i have no doubts teles are the only ones to run any office in dundee, there is going to be a lot of changes between now and the end of may next year but everyone will earn a living if they want to only the lazy will be affected, there is far too many ops who do not want to drive their own vehicles in dundee and they are going to be the real casualtys and nobody even the dta will have any sympathy for them
dundee chap i ask you how do you feel about an op with 4 drivers on his cab and has a full time job ?i know three people in this position ,all handys,if offices issued all vehicles with job counts for each vehicle then we would see where all the work was going then we could maybe make some rational remarks....

Dusty there are restrictions up in Scotland re pub licences, window cleaner licences etc.You just can`t open up premises

villager you know this is untrue phone tomorrow for a window cleaners liscence (01382 434202) they wont mention restrictions as there arent any,you may have to fight for customers but that has nothing to do with the council ,as for pubs objections have been submitted over the years
remember jaques now allstars by surrounding pubs all have been rejected there is no limit on any of the forementioned by if it was the villager just phone and see ,scaremongers inc by the sound of it....
