The is a survey being carried out on behalf of the British Government by the EU experts in road traffic management............... it seems the motorway and road design are poor.. including road signs....... but the biggest contributing fault is the lack of safety barriers. eusasmiles.zip

On the subject of road signs...Is it just me or are their so many Highly reflective Road signs on our Major roads that at night when its Wet you cant see B*gger all because of the reflected glare from both the Multitude of Signs and the wet road surface..Its Damned scary at Times, if something was on the road you'd hit it because you couldnt see it...or by the time youd looked at and absorbed every single sign youve probably hit something anyway because the signs command 95% of your attention... :?:

In my opinion British road signs are terrible...... if you have ever driven in Ireland you'll know the comparison is unreal

It is easy to get wrapped up in stats - but as ever they do not show the full picture. To glean any reasonable information from the presentation you would also have to have the vehicle numbers re the population.

To put my silly hat on, if Malta had 2 cars running around the island then that would be a very high kill rate - now if it was 50.000 then it would be bad - but not so bad!

Italy - now that is a beauty - have you seen how many passengers they can get on a Lambretta/Vespa and how many bikes they have - stats can be whatever you want them to be.

Good point...and how many Motoring tourists passing through these countrys on route elsewhere or sightseeing would make a huge Differance to the Stats too..
