One of EcoCity's directors has a bit of history.

Didn't he get his secretary 'up the duff', in the dying embers of the last Tory govt ??

Nothing like surrounding yourself with quality personel.

Directors

Timothy Yeo (Non-Executive Chairman)

Tim Yeo has been MP for South Suffolk since 1983. He held various Ministerial posts under Margaret Thatcher and John Major, including Minister of State at the Department of the Environment.

Between 1998 and 2005 he was a member of the Shadow Cabinet, shadowing a record seven different departments. Since 2005 he has been Chair of the Environmental Audit Committee. Tim holds a number of non-executive directorships in the energy, transport and health sectors including Groupe Eurotunnel SA, Univent plc, ITI Energy Ltd and AFC Energy plc.

When KPM launched the Merc, they had already set up EcoCity Vehicles.

They are listed on the AIM.

KPM/EcoCity are nothing to do with LTI.

Have KPM as we know it finished?

That I don't know. I haven't heard anything, but wouldn't suprise anyone.

Only on the cabs, this was developed by Merc so they could get a foot hold in London and end LTIs monopoly.
They got the idea from a conversion company, but the only way to get into London was develop the rear steer system
due to the cost of developing this system the conversion company let them go ahead as long as they had some input in the rest of the cab

Thats not exactly an answer, is the rear wheel steering made and fitted by mercedes benz and is it a warrenty item any mercedes dealer will be willing to repair?

Also, can you tell me the benefit of a £36,000 mercedes against a £26K TX4 (apart from the now fixed fire problem).

TX4 for £26k ? i paid £35 for mine 18 months ago  I assume you may be talking about the manual, very basic model not available in London!!

Benefits include ABS braking with disk brakes on the front and rear as opposed to just the front; airbag; front and rear air-con; parktronic sensors; comfortable leather drivers seat; superior build quality; tiptronic gearbox; better MPG; greater service intervals and cheaper servicing costs
The rear wheel steering is covered by the same 150k or 3 year mercedes warranty as are the rear power doors.

Read the Q&A on page 7 of issue 182 of TAXI trade paper:-

oh, and it doesn't spontaneously combust either

My mate bought two last month, with the trade ins, cash back and VAT reclaim paid less than £25K each.

the man done well.........i'd still rather spend the extra and get the merc taxi now........owning a TX1 and a TX4 i can honestly say i prefer the TX1 on so many counts. I shall give it 18 months to 2 years then may consider selling the 2 and buying what ever is available at that time.........providing it's not made by LTI
