I read these and I haven't got a clue what's going. That in itself isn't anything amazing cos I haven't got a clue about a lot of things, but, what exactly is Fasties :?

Planet Fasties is an ego trip, controlled by one man, who pretends not to control it, who continually gets the argument wrong, who stifles any debate, who encourages disparaging remarks to be made, then bans those who retaliate with disparaging remarks.

However, if you should want to land on Planet Fasties, go through the threads, disregard the slagging from all sides and have a look see who has written volumes of text about the argument.

Then consider those who "forget" to respond to or articulate any counter argument and have just skipped to the slagging.

Oh, and consider who it is, which side of the argument, is issuing threats of harm etc.

Simple Chips because I can and I despise them. I have nothing but contempt for this Gladstone's coven, and nothing but contempt for those in the trade that would enslave drivers and deny them their basic civil rights.

Playing the councils game, the way the council wants the game played would be to court ultimate defeat. Displaying contempt for them will ultimately win through and peace will break out.

Never forget, the council has it in its power to bring peace about NOW, this very instant. All it has to do is accord the taxi trade the same rights to develop its own business as are enjoyed by every other economic sector, and allow those with enterprise to thrive and prosper under a fair regulatory regime.

That sums it all up.

Peace could break out now.

Why doesn't it?

Another thing. cast your eye at all the bile that has been hurled in our direction. Then consider that we haven't yet changed a thing. The situation is substantially the same as its always been.

So, if we haven't yet changed anything, what is the point of the bile?

The bile is directed at us because of what is GOING to happen, not what has. The trade is experiencing fear. And its that fear that is holding us all back.

Then consider the three quarters of the UK trade that is already de-restricted, and the London model we are arguing for, then ask yourself what the problem is. If its good for everyone else, why not Edinburgh?

Not Edinburgh because it is only a small city and there is hardly any work as it is I would agree that there should be more taxis if and when there is more work but that is not just now and things are probably going to get worse.

More reason for drivers to get their own plates, instead of paying ridiculous rentals.

No work but some drivers are paying £50 a shift - remember Plate 450?

Lets see how long you last without a driver dug

Yeah. Unless the trade gets real and offers those who would enter the trade a reasonable chance to own their own situation, there ain't gonna be a trade.

No drivers for taxis, but they can put their PH on and be a taxi driver anyway?

That what we want?

That what the customers want?

Taxis don't drive themselves. The driver just does the same job driving his own vehicle. The only one that loses out is the guy charging the big rental.

Some of these guys are paying £50 a shift, and that's way too expensive.

"when I do get a driver" oh bully for you, and what about the driver having the choice to own or drive? You bought the plate son, you didn't buy the driver . . . .

Well if that's the case then you have nothing to fear from de-restriction as no one will want a plate - my bet is you couldn't be more wrong.

Would you like to put de-restriction to the test Dug?

Every application would be a vote for Skull and Jasbar . . . .

Whatever happens dug, I doubt you will ever recognise a profit from the sale of your plate. The fact is, you've bought into a Pyramid selling scheme of sorts - if you don't get out at the right time you get burned?

The buying and selling of Taxi Plates is non-sustainable. If you doubt me then just ask anyone from Dublin. Some of those guys lost 90K as a result of the council pulling the plug.

Oh and don't think it won't happen here, it will. I only hope you don't see your plate "value" as some sort of pension scheme.
