dundee wav you ask stationtone what's the answer the answer is we have to give a little to get something in return.

You are correct in stating that capping our city on its own won’t eradicated all of our problems.

If we could get the council to cap the city but in return the trade agree to a strict age limit on our vehicles and also agree that all vehicles whether they be private hire or public hire be brand new on inception this would control your numbers and more than likely eradicate 95% of hired licenses it would also stop 18 year old fairway’s being put up for service. For the trade to go to such an expense we would require the council in return to enforce the conditions of all operators licenses and our enforcement officers enforce it to the full extent of the law.

To keep our city properly capped a survey has to be undertaken every 3 years and a licensing official has to collate figures on new business and population movement and present these figures every time someone applies for a licence, if these figures show a marked change then a mini survey is undertaken and the application is deferred until the mini survey is produced, then every time a licence is heard it is dealt with up to date information that keeps our city capped.

If you do decide to have a waiting list you have list of people waiting to apply, because they haven’t been put on a list of application they have no expectation so can’t take the council to court.

now thats just desperate.
you cant turn the clock back o and o.
use whats been done to make a better and fairer system.
dont feeck it up now,and go back to what you had. thats just going round in circles.
and eventually youll end up back here.

lobby youre council to increase quality standards, thats the way forward imo.

or is this purely a selfish short term im about to retire request

=D> =D> =D> finally
its about quality controls.

making it difficult to get in,without making it nigh on impossible.
thus keeping the standard high and any owners and potential owners happy, and of course the public lest we forget

I'm glad some of us can see the light

you know how to fix this
quality controls.

lets do that
and while we are at it,lets put back in place the thing that buggered it up in the first place.

the tumour has been cut from youre trade youre now in chemo.
recapping will reintroduce the disease and eventually it will have to be cut out again.

Sorry Ali T,

I still feel to stop drivers operating on 16 hour shifts in which to make a living numbers have to be looked at. Do away with the corporate status so when one licence is returned another goes out and a new operator comes in, and they don't have to pay for the privilege.

So ..what's the answer ???? this trade luvs being divided but...never stands united....

tx op please tell me who started the divide or should I ask, was it the person who asked for a 48 hour strike at the meeting and 24 hours later state we didn't want to strike have anything to do with it, I think you want to remember back to the meeting before the strike we were together it’s what happened after the meeting that divided the trade and you more than most know exactly who divided the trade..  [/quote
]

Maybe sum truth there but...what we striked for is still occuring. If you wanna sort the mess out get rid of hired plates first...that'll free up rank space..as 4 PH..a cancer on the trade that needs cutting out 4 sure...i for one ain't going bust so it's time to dig the heels in...coz i have finally realised that i work with a lot of 2 faced, full of self importance, feck you i'm alright jack scum !!!

According to what I have heard there is a list of 161 Hired Plates; you want a solution take the most obvious operator's licence and when he decides to defend it in court, just ask to see his last years itemised accounts that have been approved by the tax man, if he isn't hiring then he can show incoming & outgoing expenditure if he can’t he's banged to writes there's your solution now see if you can get them to enforce it!! Once one fall's it'll make it nice and easy to go after the remainder.

You wanna sort the Trade out...???
1. The Government has got to change legislation on issuing plates..Sole employment or NO plate..That will rid the Trade of the profiteers whose greed for a second income has accelerated the situation we now find ourselves in.
2. Part-time drivers..Dundee is full of Teachers,Electricians,Council workers,Firefighters and any other you care to mention fleecing the Full-Time Operator's and Driver's wages..Apply same as above and watch rank space free up and income rise.
3. The hardest of them all...Unity..Simply return the set from which Office you work from and in doing so rid yourselves and the Trade from the largest leeches of them all..Office Owners..Then form one Office and one Association and then you got Strength and Stability. We are the machine...not Freeloaders or Councils.... :-k

Over and out, you say there are already too many cabs.
I say cabs don't earn a living from the trade and you have too many drivers.
If you cap at the current level, owners will double shift their cabs, other drivers will still go PH:
Also owners will not return their plates when they retire, they will rent them out.

Over and Out, they tell me this song was written for you . . . .

Del Amitri -Nothing Ever Happens

Post office clerks put up signs saying position closed
And secretaries turn off typewriters and put on their coats
Janitors padlock the gates
For security guards to patrol
And bachelors phone up their friends for a drink
While the married ones turn on a chat show

And theyll all be lonely tonight and lonely tomorrow

Gentlemen time please, you know we cant serve anymore
Now the traffic lights change to stop, when theres nothing to go
And by five oclock everythings dead
And every third car is a cab
And ignorant people sleep in their beds
Like the doped white mice in the college lab

Nothing ever happens, nothing happens at all
The needle returns to the start of the song
And we all sing along like before

And well all be lonely tonight and lonely tomorrow

Telephone exchanges click while theres nobody there
The martians could land in the carpark and no one would care
Close-circuit cameras in department stores shoot the same video every day
And the stars of these films neither die nor get killed
Just survive constant action replay

Nothing ever happens, nothing happens at all
The needle returns to the start of the song
And we all sing along like before

And well all be lonely tonight and lonely tomorrow

Bill hoardings advertise products that nobody needs
While angry from manchester writes to complain about
All the repeats on t.v.
And computer terminals report some gains
On the values of copper and tin
While american businessmen snap up van goghs
For the price of a hospital wing

Nothing ever happens, nothing happens at all
The needle returns to the start of the song
And we all sing along like before
Nothing ever happens, nothing happens at all

Theyll burn down the synagogues at six oclock
And well all go along like before

And well all be lonely tonight and lonely tomorrow
