Money well spent Ali I have no debt plate has paid for itself and it earns me my good wages i am happy and i will not be stupid enough to sell up just because the end is nigh  i have been hearing it for years and it hasnt happened yet..and if it does well sh.t happens..

So, why all the bleating about how difficult business is and how we don't need more plates?

You want your cake and eat it.

The status quo claims business is brisk and companies are expanding, all the while doctoring their figures (allegedly  ) to make claim to the council that business is poor and we don't need more plates.

Someone telling porkies here?

"Jim Taylor, secretary of taxi trade lobby group CABforce, today said there was no need to "tinker" with the current set-up.

He said: "Taxis are readily available in Edinburgh about 95 per cent of the time so we do not believe there is an unmet demand.

"In Edinburgh, we have about as many taxis per head of population as London, where there are no restrictions at the moment."

CABforce also believes that easing the rules would result in hackneys catering for the disabled being replaced with "lowest-common denominator vehicles" such as saloon cars.

Mr Taylor added: "The quality and integrity of the trade will simply diminish."

Bristol deregulated its taxi fleet in 1997 but reintroduced restrictions last year.

The number of hackney cabs jumped from 273 to about 650 during the period, prompting claims that drivers were being forced to work almost around the clock and even overcharge passengers to make ends meet "

You gotta laugh !!

You gotta get out more. Being an anorak is getting to you.

First, Saul on the road to Damascus (This has all been stated before)

Second, the argument isn't about the rights of taxi owners, I've come to realise that it is about the right of workers to ply their trade without let or hindrance. That's what happens in a free market, that we're supposed to have.

Third, I now realise it is about the rights of customers to have a reasonable expectation of hailing a taxi to get home, without being tempted to take unnecessary risks by walking home in the dark late at night, hanging about trying to hail a cab, getting into private hire or out of town taxis, or even being tempted to take a lift home from those they don't know fully or don't even know at all, risking assault, rape or even death.

Fourth, the statements made above were made without full knowledge of all the facts, of consideration of the needs of all.

Fifth, I now pursue taxi matters just like everyone else in the trade, I do what suits me and mine. That means I don't really give a toss about anyone else, most, but not all, who have shown they put their own greed before common need. So, when you seek to score your childish petty points with me, you are really showing yourself and those you support in the bad light. Cos, I'm just being like them.

Finally, I have no respect for you. because you are a snivelling bleating selfish yellow belly coward, too scared to put your name to what you write.

I on the other hand have the moral high ground because I do put my name to what I write and say. Anyone has the opportunity to talk to me personally about any of the matters I raise. But, surprise surprise, no one has. because they are too scared to be identified with their selfish greedy position.

That's why I have scant regard for the trade and those in it. That's why I sit bemused when others look my way and are too scared to approach, to engage. That's why I laugh at the childish schoolboy sniggering. You're a joke. The trade's a joke. Local authority is a joke.

yes one day the council will open up the trade but it wont be because of u and ur views

it does not matter if there are loads of taxis or not, people will walk home or jump into privates if they want too

nothing constructive or positive to say about the trade just bitterness,

Full of hot air? That's rich coming from an illiterate Gasworks.

Yes, the trade will open up, and it will be because of us, though the council are working feverishly to a plan that they can say it isn't.

I don't care who gets the credit, as long as it happens. As long as owners lose their plate value. As long as drivers can work in their own trade without let or hindrance. As long as those who are incompetent and need the council to prop up their illusions go to wall. Financially ruined.

I want it to hurt you Gas works. I want you to feel real pain. I want you to take desperate measures.

Why? Simply because you are a lowlife who cares nothing for the rights of drivers, and even less for the needs of customers. Customers who, because of your selfishness, are disappearing like snow off a dyke.

Get this Gasworks, the exponential rise in private hire, taking our work away from us, is because of you and your ilk. I loathe you for being so foolish. I despise you for being so stupid. And I rejoice that your defence of the status quo is unsustainable.

Now, tell me where I've got this wrong. Tell us all how being unable to get a taxi on a busy night and being forced to take risks of attack, assault, rape or murder, is good for the customer?

my taunt was at youre stance as business man dug and the fact that you believe you got a good deal.

it was not an attack on any member of youre family was it :?: :?: :?:

funny thing is no wrong was done to me it was done to a member of my family dug ,a child .

and you think it appropriate to attack her in an attempt to get at me.

very sad

be a man not a slug dug.
