Well you show me were it's unlawful or prohibited to transfer plates! Show us in any written form that clarify the legalities and the unlawfullness of prohibiting this practice?

I'm not going anywhere anytime soon!

All that happens is that the company in whose plate is registered has a change of director(s). something that happen s quite openly and legally in every trade or profession. There is no transfer of plate, nor is there a value put on any plate.

Isn't this just a mechanism employed by CEC and the Edinburgh trade to get around the fact that selling plates is not allowed under the CGSA 1982?

Apart from the plate, what exactly does the new company director get for his £50k investment?

I think the key points are:

Quote:
Last night Scottish Labour justice spokesman Richard Baker said: "The News of the World is to be congratulated for highlighting this problem. The Scottish Government needs to get a grip of this."
Nationalist MSP Sandra White told us she will raise the issue with Justice Secretary Kenny MacAskill.
A Scottish Government spokesman insisted: "These are serious allegations. We urge anyone with evidence to present it to the local licensing authorities."

It will be interesting to see what happens next. It's not like anyone can now claim everything legal and in the public interest. The incorporation loophole will have to be closed or the plug pulled so artificial plate values disappear altogether. One thing for sure, the trade in plates can't continue for much longer. Especially when the C.E.C has the licence appeals going through the courts.

All that is highlighted is that there are Multi plate holders holding too many plates but SNIFF not in EDINBURGH as insinuated by the article!!! Misleading (bending the truth) reporting at it's best

C'mon name and shame all Multi plate holders in Edinburgh and tell us how many they hold, i will be  ed if you can account for more than 5 % (65) of all plates in Edinburgh

Also the Highlighted fact that Jimbo now needs a plastic surgeon and i do know a good one in GLASGOW  At least you had the sense to avoid putting your mug shot outthere!!! Or was the two of you too much for the photographer

The fact that i would like to Highlight to you Skull and Taylor is that Council's have many other way's of restricting the numbers

I think the only point is this one : "THESE ARE SERIOUS ALLEGATIONS, WE URGE ANYONE WITH EVIDENCE TO PRESENT IT TO THE LOCAL LICENSING AUTHORITIES,"

Now i paid for my plate 9 years ago and there has never been a court challenge to suggest that me or the guy i paid had done any wrong  Everything is and still is perfectly Legal, SO THAT WILL BE THAT THEN WE MOVE ON until the council do something about the only problem, MULTI PLATE HOLDING in both trades, in my opinion especially the PHC

RESTRICTION RESTRICTION the tighter the better!
