And you would know this, how exactly?

Isn't this just your wish, a reality you have constructed based on YOUR need alone?

I'm shattering your pathetic illusion of worth, you are worthless, and you hate me for telling you.

That's fine. I understand.

But we all really know that this trade can't begin to move on and medernise until the plate value and the false business illusion that comes with it is destroyed.

Tell us saf, when you're waxing lyrical by the pool on holiday, trying to convince everyone around you that you're a big man taxi owner with staff in tow, why don't you be more realistic?

If you want to show everyone how good a guy you are, why not just buy them a pint?

BTW Such simple advice comes free.

" and you would know this how exactly".How many years have you been saying that we are all going to suffer at the hands of the great Jim Taylor
Last i knew you were still without the much sought after plate so "failure"
How many times have we heard that this time we are going to win, so "failure"must i go on. :D
I have never "hated" you Jim,felt humiliation for you a few times even embarrassment but never hatred.
If i hated you Jim, that would put me in the same bracket as you,you are full of hatred, how can you possibly function on a daily basis with such hatred boiling away inside you.
You seem to use this,"waxing lyrical by the pool"alot Jim,why do we have to be on holiday to do this
Any advice from you Jim is worthless, just ask the guys that thought you knew what you where talking about when you told them all to get up the high street and put their applications in.
So Jim,you keep feeling the way you do and you'll need a wee visit to the yellow doors. :D :D

Chipper, it wasn't that long ago you were driving Ph, stealing work from the hacks to survive. Now, you are a qualified taxi driver. How do you manage to cope with your achievement? Oh I know, you are one of the chosen, the elite. Welcome Chip, you have attained the dizzy heights of Taxi Driver. From this point forth you are one of the herds, you can now relinquish all thought beyond that of being a feckwit taxi driver. Chip, you are one of them, not one of us, a feckwit, in your own right.      Chip, you have landed. . . :D

Last night, I watched Ph, filling their boots all over the town. And what's more, every cabby I spoke too though the same. Ph, look even busier now than before the recession.

Well done boys, if you want even more of our work, phone City Cabs on: 0131 228 1211 or Central Radio Taxis on: 0131 229 2468

Right skull, you and Taylor have gone on and on for years now about the taxi trade dying and about how busy PHC are. If the trade is dead as you shout so often, then why are you still driving a cab? Are you still earning enough to live on comfortably, just like I am?

If PH are "filling their boots" are they making more than you? The ones I speak to are fed up with not having enough work, some are going for their brief, but not one claims to be earning a good living.

The cabbies I speak to don't seem to hold any illusions about being big business men and when they go on holiday they relax and have a break. I've never heard of any of them on holiday bragging about any business. The only braggart seems to be you!!

You have been asked and asked but never answer, so again....

Do you think you would make more money driving a PH?

Nobody else I know goes home and play kid-on war games about cabbies. (I can just picture you with your toy taxis and cars!!) The only war is in your head, the rest of us just get on with life. I work, I have time off. Simple.

So to make it easy for you, I'll list all the questions again. All you have to do is tell us all YOUR answers. It's easy really.

1.If the trade is dead as you shout so often, then why are you still driving a cab?

2. Are you still earning enough to live on comfortably?

3. If PH are "filling their boots" are they making more than you?

4. Do you think you would make more money driving a PHC?

Now there you are skull, dead easy questions but are you man enough to answer them all?

Maybe it is too much to ask of such an important person? If it is maybe your secretary jasbar could answer for you?

No one is claiming the individual Ph driver is making a fortune but every little helps them and hurts us. The Ph trade as whole, and especially ECPH, are taking more of our work. Their presence is being felt all across the city and that means less work for the Hacks.

It's your job totals, which decide your success or failure as a trade, and in the last 10 years, ours are down at least 30% across the board.

Your tariff might be higher but that means you are charging fewer customers more for your income to remain the same. Pro rata, your earnings may be similar to what they were 10 years ago, but they are worth a lot less.

No answers then?

Job totals are down but not just because of PHC. Would you not be better doing something positive about maintaining your own income by doing something about the seagulling that goes on? The same seagulling that disproves your words about how busy they are. The same seagulling that puts lone females in danger.

Sort that out and you just might find support and a need for more taxis.

If there are plenty of cabs available, why is seagulling such a problem?

gusmac,

In Edinburgh it has got to the point now where the some of public think it is quite alright to flag down a phc if they see one first.

It has got past the stage where they would only try to get one on the street if the taxis were too busy.

In the last 10 years, Ph numbers have increased from around 300 in 1999-2000 to approximately 1000 vehicles at today's date - subject to seasonal and recessional variations.

ECPH, are now directly targeting our customer base through new blue tooth technology, aggressive advertisement campaigns and price cutting.

There seems to be plenty of work when it comes to hiking rentals or selling plates, but not enough work when it comes to qualified drivers having unfettered access to the tools of his trade.

Seagulling isn't the problem Swannee is trying to make out. For the most part, it only happens at peak times when hacks can't keep up with customer demand.

The problem is simply the competition coming after our customer base and the Hacks doing little or nothing to compete in return.

We are giving our work away.
