Reminds me of most people on here then

The decision may have been legal, but that doesn't mean it doesn't stink.

At the inception of this unreasonable levy only 1 association existed that represented PH driver’s interest SODA, Sefton clearly chose to ignore the objection from the PH drivers to the HC proposal.

From my point of view if a council wants to restrict taxi numbers then it should be they that pay for SUD surveys.

And if the taxi trade want to pay for it, then so be it, but taxi surveys have f*** all to do with the PH trade. They are taxi surveys into taxi demand to defend taxi quotas.

As I said f*** all to do with the PH trade. [-X

I suppose you could also take the view that the people who claim that there is no unmet demand should at least bear some of the cost. and let's face it £2 in some cases every three years, or £2 on renewal of a vehicle licence, which through the work of the association's was until recently £120 a year, and now is only 140 per year . it's the old saying you can't please everybody

If my memory is correct. the private hire companies themselves did a in house survey of their own, they asked their drivers if they agreed with the Levy and from my recollection they did, in fact the overall consensus was that it was only fair, if my memory serves me correct the four representatives of soda then went out and created three more associations, yet the same group still worked from the same radio company, and again if my memory serves me correct the leader of this group went to the licensing committee, demanding that Sefton allowed the private hire to pick up off the road and had problems understanding it was not in their remit to do so.
Minute 19 November 11th 2003.

The SLOPA representative indicate that his comments at the previous meeting should have been minuted that "he thought he had surveyed his drivers on the survey levy issue". Following an investigation he now confirmed that he had not surveyed his drivers.

PH drivers did go to the licensing committee about 10 years ago, demanding that sefton looked at some of the PH problems, they had no idea what controls affected them, everybody has to start somewhere.

Why would someone from Bolton need to complain about fee's in Sefton.

Hang on I've fell into the JD trap of believing that someones name or initials bears relevance.

Sorry Mr Bolton for questioning your complaint and subsequent post.

BTW are you a PH driver in Sefton?

B. Lucky :D

Sorry to be a pain ................... but there had to be an investigation for someone to confirm that he had not surveyed his drivers.

Could he not remember???

Sounds a bit fishy to me Mr Bolton ............ and your timing is impeccable as you have appeared "out of the blue" when some are trying to personally and professionally discredit another member from that area.

Its a good job I'm not a conspiracy theorist.

I stand corrected, their survey was only concerning whether or not the drivers wanted a Hackney licence which they did not, as I said it was Orly from memory, and I totally agree with everyone has to start from some were, and I personally have always encourage associations to attend meetings, and if you are who I think you are, you'll also know that I do not always a agree with council decisions.

The democratic process has not been followed unless you consider 14 HC voting against 2 PH a balanced view.

It is not about getting his way, would sefton accept a split of 14.1.1. on any committee a balanced committee?, I don't think so.

You have got one me a little bit confused there are no Hackney or private hire drivers on the licensing committee

And at the liaison committee meetings there are no votes taken
And as for private hire being represented correct me when if I am wrong there are four Private Hire drivers associations and two Private Hire Company Associations that are represented at each meeting and only four Hackney Associations each association two members only .
and has not a question of levy been present at a licensing committee on its own

SLOPA represents PH operators not drivers, when challenged on the issue of surveying his drivers (not members) he investigated the subject and remembered he had not surveyed his drivers.

Yes I did agree with you before, the survey that took place was whether his drivers wanted a Hackney licence and not about the two pound levy, I said this before
