From what I heard the guy who was in charge of the Regulatory Functions Board here in Renfrewshire was an taxi driver years ago & up to date member of the T & G union

He retired this month with the £20,000 pay off long standing councillors were entitled to upon leaving their posts this year

Maybe he could buy a Paisley plate with the cash ??!!

Eric Barry is known in the trade as ‘Mr. Highfelt’.

This was the name of computer dispatch system he tried to develop through his time on the CRT committee. I personally didn’t think it was a bad idea but it cost the company a fortune and never came close to completion.

The problem with Eric is; Eric can only hear the sound of Eric's own voice. I don’t think I have met anyone with such a deluded self-belief as Eric Barry. Eric is very presentable, and plausible, to those who don’t have the brains to scrutinise anything he comes out with. I have got to say; I think Eric makes the perfect politician especially now he is working to the party agenda.

In short; Eric is off his head and should be locked-up for his own safety, but failing that, politics is the best place for him, and probably the only place. He should be right at home.

Does anyone know of any other cab drivers elected as councillors?

Yeah we have a couple of owners that are councilors and when ever a Taxi related item comes up the have to declare an interest and leave the room.
