The problem in Liverpool, the problem that no one talks about, is the 58000 pound plate that ether, needs financing, or to rent 300- 330 per week . Two thirds of the black cab dont have radios . They just sit there like they have done for the last 30 years.

Sefton is a bigger a shiit hole than Liverpool, so i dout if there is any difference in insurance. But when your grasping at straws , any crap will do.

I am going to have to start charging you..... under the anti-terrorism laws you have to inform the police when you are staging a demonstration at least 24 hours before if not more....... obviously the police would of contacted Liverpool council...... and I would think that the Liverpool legal department would have given Mr Kelly a pre-written statement.

http://www.merseysidetaxis.com/Protest.htm

It must be great comfort, to all those Delta drivers who reside in Liverpool (rate payers). That liverpools legal department is advising the council on how best to change the law, to screw Delta . I think Mr Kelly said that they were going to London a third time . To lobby for a change in the Law, no dout highlighting the latest protest. Perhaps you can enlighten us Mr T .

I think that the Liverpool council and Licence department are concerned with the fact that 1000 plus private hire vehicles are operating within the Liverpool area and have no authority over them.... if a Liverpool resident makes a complaint about a Delta vehicle or driver they have no authority over them.... I don't really think that was the intention of the 1976 Act.

Sussex I forgot you're not one of the people in the taxi trade that consider themselves businessman..... insurance rates are different all-round the country... BUT.. and it is a big but... the insurance companies as far as Liverpool are concerned are not interested in where you actually live but set the rate because you have a Liverpool plate and work in Liverpool obviously.

If the insurance companies think Liverpool is a sh** hole, then that's not the fault of Delta.

Typical Liverpool, everything that happens to them is everyone else's fault.

Delta has just built a new Office... he could have built it in the Liverpool boundary which is only one mile away....... licensing fees in Sefton and Liverpool are near enough the same....... and the testing station he uses Test Sefton and Liverpool vehicles ..... Brighton is a city... really it is only a town..... that has a few bits of scaffolding with a bouncy castle sticking out into the sea'''..... Liverpool is a very congested city and unfortunately the accident rate is high..... consequently the premium is higher..... that is the way the insurance companies see it........ it is not an argument I would have used....

I suppose the obvious question is, "why"?

If you suddenly had a private hire fleet taking away your normal work by undercutting you by a considerable amount, you might understand.

Enlighten me to what you call, "your normal work"?

The only thing I understand is that private hire vehicles along with their drivers cannot stand and ply for hire in any place either public or private. I also understand it is perfectly legal for any private hire or hackney carriage driver to wait in any licensed area other than their own.

We know you and the other mindless bunch want every taxi driver in the UK to return to their own license area when they have completed a job but that is never going to happen so I think you guys on Merseyside need to go back to the drawing board and find a different solution to the one you contemplate which is holed below the water line before it even leaves dry-dock.

JD

I shouldn't have to enlighten a Hackney driver as to your normal work..... but then you're not really a Hackney driver are you
and as to my views on whether a private hire should return to their own area... I have never stated..... but of course you have your cracked crystal ball.... and you know everything..... hope you're illness was not caused by eating in a Manchester restaurant. that was a devastating report that over 30 per cent did not meet even the minimum health and safety regulations

The problem is three-fold IMO.

The Liverpool trade have to fund £50,000+ for a plate, which they support.

They have to fund a TX and it's crazy running costs, which they support.

They can't compete with Delta's crazy minimum wage fares, which they can do nothing about.

You say you don't think the intention of the 1976 act was to allow private hire vehicles from Sefton to work in Liverpool, perhaps you can tell us the true intentions of the act, according to Mr T?

You say Liverpool has no authority over sefton private hire but it wasn't so long ago you were advising us that Liverpool licesning officers were also licensed by Sefton and vice versa. Just what type of authority does Liverpool licensing want?

Question for JD..... a person in Liverpool telephones for a delta private hire, he goes across Liverpool and is dropped off in Liverpool, that person is overcharged and verbally abused..... he complains to Delta and they fob him off..... who does he then complained to..

The enforcement officers are empowered to check vehicles, not deal with complaints .

Answer from Sussex.

If a licensed driver is rude to a customer it doesn't matter one jot where the rudeness took place. Punters complain to the LOs of the area in which he is licensed.

As for the overcharging, in a PH that's a matter for the small claims court against the operator that took the booking.

The council that license the vehicle... has no powers regarding a booking in another area

If the council received a complaint against a private hire driver for overcharging it has the powers to suspend his licence

But the booking was taken in the licensed area.

But your scenario is about the rudeness of the driver, not the vehicle. But I don't think that matters anyway.

If a driver punches a man whilst on holiday, or is convicted of 'drunk and disorderly' conduct, then the council should take that into consideration when they decide if he is 'fit and proper'.

In the same way they should consider his rude actions when driving outside of the licensed area.

You been drinking? :?

If so you're saying that Sefton licensing department should operate in Liverpool
And there is then no need for Liverpool to have a licensing section

The offence has taken place in Liverpool which is outside Sefton's authority is it not.

I'm sorry to highlight this point but this question of yours really shows how redundant your argument really is.

For instance it doesn't matter if the driver is private hire or hackney, working under a contract of private hire and licensed in or outside the area in question. All licensing authorities have the same powers under current legislation therefore being licensed in Liverpool wouldn't afford the complainee any advantage over being licensed anywhere else including Sefton. However the point you are trying to make is that it would matter, therefore I'm going to give you the opportunity to tell us all what advantage the complainee might have if the driver was licensed in Liverpool?

Regards

JD
