Maybe you should be out measuring your COIF,d Excursions turning circle and then posting the results which definately wont match Coif regs. I should know i owned one and have checked 6 more and none match the desired measurements. So in fact you are driving a vehicle with 13 passengers that does,nt meet coif criteria and therefore making your limo more illegal than the Schedule 6 Self drive ones !
So by your own admission all the coif 13 seaters are illegal and only the dubious self drive hire schedule 6 are kind of legal.
says alot about your industry , one minute we are all being told the legal 13 seater coif motor and now they are illegal...and you wounder why no one has any respect or faith in these over 8 limos. I think the advice to the public should be dont travel in any of these vechiles as the opporaters havent a clue if they are legal or not.

I don't want to labour the point, but just because a vehicle, albeit a bloody big one, gets a certificate of fitness, it doesn't follow that they are licensed to do PSV work straight away.

The drivers have to get a PSV license and the owners some sort of operator's license to operate.

There are many people who know sheds loads more about PSV licensing on here, so can someone tell me what operator's license they act under?

It's really not a trick question.

This could be a oppotunetie for all of us to expand our business. just hire 16 seat buses from Avis when & if we need them go along the same lines they do ( no opporaters licence, no checks nothing, no service ) pay a rental once a week and tap into the clubing side of the market. If they can ignore it all so can we..

you missed my point Graduate.. I was thinking them useing it with the standerd 16seat merc or ford, nice way to opporate , no opporaters licence etc...they buy one cheap, and use your self drive hire meathord, side stepping all the hire & reward regs,it would be easy to get the paper work. just go & hire from one of you lot. sign the papers keep your copy, bingo. & then cancel.nice & easy does it...

Mr Sussex , im sorry i cant answer your questions exactly but you must appreciate if i go into detail then the wrong ppl would be able to see exactly how to misuse this system ,which is exactly what we dont want!

I understand, but I'm pretty sure the wrong people will get to know how to abuse any system.

That said if a system can be abused by the bad guys, then really it's not that much of a system, is it? :?

Let's start afresh.

Every PSV must have an operator, so in this system is the operator the owner of the vehicle, the driver, the punter, or someone else? :?

By refusing to answer you Sussex we can only be led to belive its a bit dodgy.
The 8 seat limo guys are now running council licenced and can be seen to be legal. power to them all for getting sorted .
But sorry Graduate, with every post you keep putting more doubts up.
If I was one of these limo opporators who have got licenced with the council I would be very miffed to have you lot trying to get a single licence for your 16 seat things on the back of them. They dont need a single licence they already are licenced.

No tips, unless of course you are 1 of these 8 seater brigade i fail to see how you are qualified to give such an opinion, IMO this is just more ignorance to a system you cant or dont want to understand. This is now getting so boring its beyond belief, please for christ sake find another bone to chew on as this ones all soggy now
