Would someone be so kind as to send me a copy of the contract which is used in relation to these self drive vehicle hire and a copy of the contract in respect of vehicles that carry 16 passengers and supply their own driver? Also could one of you limo guys email TDO a copy of the insurance contract for both of the above?

I have contacted ten limo companies in the last two days and only one has said they are only licensed for eight people.

All the rest were only too pleased to offer me vehicles that accommodated 16 passengers. The surprising element of the conversation, was when I asked them if I had to supply my own driver and they all said no. lol

Perhaps they are all using the wedding contract scam because they find the schedule 6 conversion unnecessary to act unlawfully?

Funny old world isn't it.

Regards

JD

Did they say something along the lines of "you must be f***ing joking mate, would you let someone you don't know drive a £100,000+ car of yours" ? Image

JD with respect your P-ing in the wind for someone to send you a copy of the contract!!! If you knew someone was determined to take you to court on lets call them legal technicallities would you furnish them with the info to allow them to do it?? Dont get me wrong i know what you are saying if theres nout wrong with it then why not, but hey it would still cause these companies endless amounts of grief, time and money to defend such actions so i believe your requests will simply get ignored due to the aforementioned reasons and who could blame them :D

If I was confident in my case/contract it wouldn't bother me in the slightest. :-s

With this lot of TAXI DRIVERS/PH mate i doubt it!!!! I put taxi drivers/ph in capital as this is a statement of fact, they are indeed taxi drivers/ph drivers, i therefore question why they are making such a big issue out of all this, i summise that they have nothing better to do and trade for them is obviously in a slack period so therefore giving them more time on their hands to pick holes in what everyone else does for a living, ie Pink ladies, ie Tuk Tuks, ie Limos and anyone else that wants to give these taxi folks a bit of competition, now lets just look through this forum for a while and you will clearly see i have a valid point here, live and let live i say, dont get me wrong im not saying i either advocate or condemn what some of these ops are using, but my general take is either let the powers that be deal with it, if indeed its illegal, or leave them alone to get on with their lives and trade :D

KIRMIT KIRMIT KIRMIT...it is a big deal to us, as when the powers that be do make new laws etc it will bring us into it as well. it always does they close a loophole and the legal people have more laws to deal with . because we abide by them and dont ignore them as these hummers do. in the end we will suffer. and they will be off on another scam..

If someone hired such a limo, would they not be entitled to a copy of the contract?

But this is just it Mr S none of these ops will say its ideal as it clearly isn't, And most want to see a license for all, note the word most as i know there are some that dont, but lets be honest here all they are doing is working within what situation they find themselves in currently, would it not be viable to wait and see what comes in next year for limos before we all go throwing toys out of prams about this??

To be fair No tips its not really a case of wether us 8 seaters like it or not!! Its a case of these people are here and they are not going to go away, therefore they NEED a licensing system which also accomodates them, surely thats sensible and thats what all this is about or am i misreading this thread?? :D

Well that is a valid point, but I have a problem with what I see as an illegal scam being allowed to continue on the basis of it will be all right on the night.

I never expected my request to be fulfilled, I was highlighting the fact that these limo operators know they are skirting with the law and they do not have the confidence or courage of their actions to make public there allegedly unlawful activity.

In my brief research of the limo trade the absence of contract information or terms and conditions from every limo website I visited, was quite evident.

I notice the driver for hire website has a link to terms and conditions but when you access the link it says something to the effect of, Terms and conditions will be available in due course?

I'm not surprised that evidence of the legitimacy of those who are not licensed, is shrouded in secrecy.

Regards

JD

There is already a licensing scheme if you want to carry on a business involving carrying passengers for hire & reward in vehicles with more than 8 seats it called a PSV OPERATOR LICENCE.
