Their attitude is quite astonishing. Why would anyone want to converse with people like that?

Why on earth do publications accept articles from people like that?

Having put 15 years of my life and suffered the personal cost of losing 2 children and a wonderful partner because of my refusal to give in and go get a "proper" job, I really do wonder if the time has come to give in. I am tired of working with people who live in the dark ages and who are incapable of discussion without resorting to threats and abusive language.

Little wonder that the public perception of the trade is so bad.

Where have I ever hidden who I am or what I do?

Or do the GMB not have the savvy to open their eyes and look?

Let's face it, at the end of the day, they are going to stick to their guns, they don't care who they insult and completely disregard whether there is any truth in anything they publish.

Apology from the GMB for writing rubbish????? Never.

(and the table they publish on the link above is way out of date)???

Pointless wasting my time on here or any other taxi forum methinks.

Cheerio.

Look mate you may be mug enough to believe all the rubbish coming from the clowns.
The age thing is rubbish. Many london cabs are older than 10 years. Are they all rubbish?
The gmb bunch of clowns slagged off over a 1000 drivers who didnt deserve to be slagged off.
The reply still slags them off.
I think someone maybe Ted rang up a clown from the union and they said they didnt like age limits.
So make up your mind.
Tell me do the gmb want age limits or not.
If not why slag us off for agreeing with the clowns even if they slag us off time and time again.
Good thing is the gmb will never happen in the area other in the sad city of Brighton.

Maybe you could inform us on exactly how the statements and facts and figures are not correct.

The question being raised is the standards in Brighton compared to those of its neighbouring authorities. The issue is being raised because it is obvious that it costs more to be licensed and comply with legislation in Brighton and therefore drivers licensed in Brighton need to charge more because their costs are higher, this leads to their tendered prices for Brighton school contracts having to be higher than those drivers licensed in neighbouring authorities who don't have to charge as much as their costs are lower.

Any comments seem to be relating to one company in particular, however it is the policies of the councils concerned to which the GMB have rightly raised questions. Your claims that drivers have been slagged off is a reaction by you to the truth offered .................... your reluctance to offer any counter argument suggests that you are more likely to be a driver operating under the lower standards and taking advantage of the fact that you can tender lower prices for Brighton school contracts than the drivers from Brighton can ................ whether you do or not is a question that maybe should be answered.

You think someone rang .................. you think it was Ted.

Doesn't sound that you have much in the way of evidence to this supposed call Flyer .................. but as far as any policy from the GMB its clear you have the branch opinion ....................... it is my opinion (as a member outside of Brighton) that the GMB are against any policy which allows people from outside the membership area to operate at lesser standards therefore putting at a disadvantage members who are trying to compete via tender for contracts offered by their own authority.

That is an interesting question Mr Flyer.

Do they like limits on age, or not?

Maybe they are in the same mess with that limit as they are with taxi limits.

i.e. the arse and the elbow never talk nor agree.

Of course, the biggest inflated cost of licensing in Brighton is the £40k plate premiums and associated driver rentals, and we all know where you stand on that.

As for the GMB's stance, however, who knows? :-k
