CC....joking aside, two brief points for you. Firstly, I would have thought you of all people, knowing the trade as you do, would "keep your powder dry" and wait for more evidence/facts before hanging the driver. He may indeed be a nutter who tried to kill this little cherub, but who knows, as others have said, it may have been an accident, or the kicking his leg, or perhaps even more of the story may be "enhanced" elements...for a better effect. The driver may well deserve a custodial sentence for it, but we've all seen just how different the truth often turns out to be when drivers are accused of things varying from "taking the long way round", to rape...or assault. I think I'll wait for more facts before joining the lynch mob, and even then, be willing to let the courts decide this driver's fate, if deemed appropriate.

Secondly, it only takes a few seconds of the red mist descending for there to be unintended consequences that can change lives forever...and even the mildest mannered can fall victim to it at some point (some little to$$er robbing you of over £15, when some days you might not earn much more once the fuel is paid for, might do it for some  ). There but for the grace of God....as they say.

Your possibly right.

But the fact appears to be that the driver didn't actually hang around to give his version of events. Therefore leaving one person and his mam to give theirs.

I wouldn't have thought an entirely innocent person would have driven off.

As for the red mist.....yes I accept that can happen, especially to the more inexperienced cab drivers out there.

that red mist can be quite all consuming, and i speak from experience

girl gets in my car off a rank at about 1am

and uninvited, so does a p.i.s..s.head who she agrees to share with

5 mile up th eroad she is getting out, pays half the fare

he gets out refusing to pay "it was her taxi, she can pay"

he stood by the open door arguing

reverse

bang

oops

sorry sir

As much as I would like to run over some people for whatever reason and probably because they well deserved it I wouldn't. Neither would I condone this kind of action being taken for the sake of £15.00. If this was an accident the driver should come forward and give his side of the story and take the consquences like the man he thought he was and not the coward it appears he is. Having said that I'm not prepared to condemn anybody to anything until all the facts are clear. If it does turn out to be a deliberate act perhaps he'll get one of those liberal judges that let off so many abusers of the taxi trade and just get a slap on the wrist

The way this thread is going perhaps the driver should come forward, he'll be able to sue the family for hurt of feelings and time off the road washing blood from his vehicle

WTF is wrong with getting your MUF???

90% of my passengers on a Friday & Saturday night pay MUF FFS!!!!

No MUF, No ride!!!

Very, very simple.

If all drivers adopt this policy, as is general in Brum, then the punters start paying MUF before being asked by the driver or sometimes before the cab doors are unlocked & getting into the cab.

The police have said that drivers should adopt this policy if there is any doubt that the passengers may be unable to pay the fare at the end of the journey.

Nothing but some people prefer to wait until the ride is over so they don't pay over the odds or they have the option to tip if they get good service

I ALWAYS collect well over the odds & tell the passengers when I ask for MUF that the meter goes on & they get the change from the meter price & what they have given me as a deposit at the end of the journey.

I don't go looking for tips; all I want is the fare - anything else is a bonus & up to the passenger.

I don't go looking for tips either and I always return change if they pay up front, but, I have a sneaky suspicion that you thought I may perhaps have another of my blonde moments and ask what a MUF was
