You need restriction so that you can function. You need to deny drivers their rights. You need to shaft the public with higher than necessary tariffs.

Which is why private hire are the real taxis the public want now. They're fed up with your greed and selfish stupidity.

Now scum, tell us all why restriction is necessary, and how it works in the interest of the consumer? Or the drivers.

I find it absolutely astounding how anyone driving a taxi under the cosh of the council can believe he is a success. It only goes to show the mentality of your average cabby. All it takes is a little altercation with a member of the public, a phone call from the Cab Inspector. And the so called successful businessman owner is up at the Cab Office spilling his guts out to keep his illusion alive. What it must be like to be such a success, when everything you think you own actually owns you.

Aye you're clearly not the full shilling are you?

1. You CAN set your own prices. You simply can't exceed the council diktat.

2. You don't need to accommodate the disabled. The only Health and Safety assessment of a wheelchair accessible vehicle was done on a TX1. It reported that any passenger in a wheelchair weighing over 6 and a half stones represents a significant risk to the driver. Under Health and Safety rules it is your responsibility to ensure that your safety is assured. Under current WAV conditions it clearly isn't. It's in YOUR interests not to carry wheelchair bound passengers.

BTW If you do the job, and you injure your passenger in the process, then that passenger is likely to sue YOU. NOT the council who coerced the trade into accepting these rules.

BTW2 I suspect that you will find that the terms of your insurance, or for the benefit of trade slaves - the owner's insurance, will not cover you in the event that you injure yourself or your passenger. Check it out. because the council didn't.

3. The reason you believe there is no such thing as a free market is because this is what YOU want to believe. Restriction denies drivers their rights, it bolsters owner's privilege and keeps control with councils. Restriction ensures that councils have us all by the b*lls.

They'll hand us any scraps as they see fit. And screw us down if we squeal.

4. The hire car market is free. For PH in any case. They expand because the council drags its feet when demand picks up. By the time the taxi trade recognises the demand increase and reluctantly allows plates to come on, PH have already met that demand increase. They expand. Our market share constantly diminishes.

We're being squeezed out of the very market we used to control, own even.

And all you're worried about is trying to persuade folks that Taylor is wrong. Look around you and see for yourself that Taylor is right. What the Skull and I are arguing for is our trade's very last chance of survival. It may already be too late.
