I agree and I've often thought a refusal of this kind could be met with a successful legal challenge. However the outcome is not certain but if cases can be won on conditions attached to vehicle colour then there is no reason why they can't be won on the grounds of driver safety.

So we agree JD

So if anyone out there wants to fit CCTV to their vehicle, just do it, and see what the council says when you go to court.

Show them all the stories in the trade press and on TDO, about drivers being attacked.

And let the LA look bloody daft in court.

CC

I've got CCTV in my cab via "Autocab" and whilst its been a great help with non payers etc on the one time that I really needed it I wasn't in a position to hit the big red button quick enough! And even if I had - you can only use it twice before you have to download and clear the system! Thats NOT good enough you could realistically have several "suspicious" pax on the average Saturday night!

With all this technology why hasn't someone come up with a permanent CCTV system in cabs thats GPS linked etc?

I go to the expense both monetary and physical of driving a TX and its so easy to forget that the drivers door itsn't connected to the locking system - something else for the manufacturers to look at! Please lock the drivers door - its systematic to reach out and lock the pax one but people can and will use your door as well.

On a positive note - I did use the cctv in my cab to gain a conviction for Criminal Damage and the guy got three months in side! :D
