The public?
Or the vested interests who have hiked plate values to £50,000.
Curious thing is that de-restriction works OK in over 70% of other local authorities. Including London.
So, tell me again it didn't work.
The only difficulty with the last occasion was that the council was persuaded by the vested interests to put the cap back on.
Anyway, what part of free market economics don't you understand?
Who said it didn't work? Those who lost everything - the public who faced higher fares and a poorer service because of the cut-throat antics of some desperate drivers, oh, and the Cab Inspector.
So, again it didn't work. Were you there? NO, you just make it up as you go along.
what part of free market economics don't I understand? The bit about price controls - how can you call it a free market. Joe public doesn't hail a cab on the basis of choice but of necessity. He takes the first one that comes along.
Is it true that you are up on disciplinary at the council as well as being refused your plate?
John T, I will be in Tesco's cafe in Haddington this Saturday at 12 noon.
If you want me to buy you a coffee and explain why you are talking sh** this is your chance.
I am bald incredibly good looking

carrying a black rucksack.
This is no joke BTW I will be there for my dinner between 12 noon and 2pm you can't miss me.
Bring along a pal if you want....
