Convenient way of raising revenue. Perhaps everyone in the UK should stop driving, that way everything would come to a standstill and the economy would instantly collapse. Perhaps those advocating green taxes would then realise how important vehicles are in sustaining the economy.

You are quite right. Climate change should not be used as an excuse to raise more taxes. The government could reduce the levy imposed on Biodiesel so that it could be sold economically at the pumps. Its just as good as regular diesel and carbon neutral. They wont though, since they make a huge amount in duty from regular diesel.
