The same could be said of many of the countless criminal acts committed every day of the week.

These people are being made an example of because these riots shook the establishment.
It has nothing to do with justice.

A lot of these sentences are a knee jerk reaction from cameron and his cronies,do you really think it will put them off future criminality, more likely to make them into hardened criminals. There has to be punishment but it has to be fair, some of these sentences are far from that.

Its pretty obvious to me that most peoples view would be "lets shoot em"But when you treat people like [edited by admin] theyll come back and bite. The guy that got shot by the police was probally as much a starting point as any.Do you ever see the police held to account for these sort of things,do you f@ck!You could send in the army and imprison everyone of them and still not solve any of the problem.

3 young men were buried in Birmingham today

I think knee-jerks are a good thing sometimes

You've got to be having a fu*king laugh. You positively salivate over those locked up for writing on Face Book, and now, you jerk yourself off over knee-jerk reactions. All of this, from the man who won't allow his racist comments to be judged by councillors.

What a piece of [edited by admin].

A legal system which is not subverted by politicians and treats everyone equally and fairly

And that's what we have in the UK!!!

Compare countries like Syria, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, to name but a few and then criticise our legal system and sentencing powers.

Don't forget that all maximum sentences are laid down in written sentencing guidelines for the courts in the UK.

No it isn't
The swift and harsh justice we have seen this week proves otherwise.
If you still believe that, you are seriously deluded.

It's not so long since the goverment were interfering in the judicial process to allow all sorts of scumbags out early and to ensure the courts handed out non custodial sentences, because the country couldn't afford to lock up so many people.
Now, under political pressure, they can lock people up for stealing water and doughnuts  FFS.

Compare that with this case and tell me where the justice is.

If the same heavy hand had dealt with these scrotes, they wouldn't have seen the light of day for 10 years.
Instead they loose a few days pay and have to scrub graffitti or paint OAP's houses for a few hours a week.

These countries don't pretend to be democracies with a judiciary that is free from political interference.

What punishments would you like to have seen handed out?

Whatever was appropriate to the offences for which the accused were convicted.
Not what was called for by a government with brown trousers.
