Thats cos in Modern day obese Britain 75% of the ladies would need to commision a Tent maker to have a pair made that would fit...I still have nightmare images of certain rotund ladies wearing thin black skipants expanding to the point of transparancy as they climb in and out the motor or as they bend over to pick up their LIDL shopping bags....yeeeeechhhhhhhhhhhh!!... 8)

Excuse me I'm not rotund or obese and I would slot into that 75% of the survey. It is healthier for ladies not to wear them

I see God has stuck his two penny bit in again, "The Captain" with his typical self righteous attitude, You scratch my back and you scratch my back philosophy.
NVQ? what a load of B..lo..s!!!! the only people who will benefit from this latest Government/Council scam are the jobsworths who dreamed it up, justifying their jobs and making sure they get another year of gold topped up pensions along with there 2.9% salary increase while managing to job share and run a licensing office with availability Tue /Thur 10.00 - 12.00 and 14.00 - 16.00 appointment required, That's in York anyway, you have more chance of contacting / finding Bin Larden than a Taxi Licensing officer in York outside them 4 hours twice a week.
And of course the others to benefit are those wonderful assessors, who have used their position in the trade to scare monger while doing the basic i week teaching course (Hull Uni £176.00) if you paid for it. With the attitude this is a nice little earner for doing nothing, and a ready made market.
How on earth can someone who has hardly been in the job 5 mins and does a quick meet and greet with a touch of H&S course thrown in, expect to get respect and taken seriously as a teacher from people who have done the job with many more years experience and have never had 1 complaint against them in fact just the opposite.
With regards to a assessor sitting in my car and judging my driving skills, no problem at all, but i do hope their's meet the legal requirement at all times, i would hate to see them speeding or failing to adhere to road traffic regulations while carrying passengers or empty, not that i will be looking out for this much, Not!!!!!!
Communication skills, that's interesting, Now given that over the years i have the dis-pleasure of hearing our certain drivers give their opinions and philosophy of customers service skills and the way they have dealt with them, i am quite looking forward to that part of the NVQ course, always fancied doing amateur boxing and how to be a winner in confrontational situations.

Firstly, the people to whom you refer are not teachers, they are assessors who merely assess the evidence that you provide, as for their duration of service, all the assessors who are based in York have experience in the taxi trade, one has 17 years, one has 12, years one has 10 years and the other two have 9 years each.

as has been eloquently stated by Toots in an earlier post, they are not there to judge your driving ability, but merely to observe that you carry out all that you have stated in your work books,
there is an old saying if you can't beat them join them, we are currently looking for assessors so why not come on board and share your vast experience with the taxi world.

Doe's that mean i don't need to bring a Apple to my class then, a saving there then, first one to be made should i take the NVQ. The one with 17 years i would like then please, i am afraid the ones with 9 years just don't do it for me, given i have over 25 years experience sure you will understand, taxi driving is like the university of life, which you can only gain your degree with honors after putting in the time, i know it's possible to pop on the Internet and buy one, but just not the same.
Pleased to hear that your not judging driving ability, " Gloves make a poor present for a man with no hands"
Unfortunately i can't join your merry band of assessors, even though i have many faults and personality floors, hypocrisy is not one, but thank you for the kind offer.

i never said they were teachers, there is nothing they could teach me about taxiing having worked at the best firm in york we dealt with every type of disabled passenger courteously and with a great deal of proffesionalism to which i was never ever castigated only complimented !! even with longer service than most of you i dont feel it is right to judge peoples evidence it can be fabricated (and yes i would know   all about that type of thing)

Well I think you've all got a bit of a swallow me knob attitude.

Quote:
i disagree with this course for the simple reason it is not going to make me a better driver

It's a good job the course isn't ALL ABOUT YOU then isn't it

Quote:
never had to deal with a saturday night "special" nor for that matter driven a cab explain how you deal with that !!

There's nowt special about Saturday nights and I know this through experience. When taking the Btec/VRQ it is a classroom based course and the information passed around by experienced drivers to those not so is invaluable to them.

Quote:
I see God has stuck his two penny bit in again, "The Captain" with his typical self righteous attitude, You scratch my back and you scratch my back philosophy.

If that is the case he certainly isn't the only one on here with that attitude is he?

Quote:

If you bothered to get off your ar$e and find out about it for yourself then they wouldn't be able to scaremonger the trade in this way. Make a compliant to Edexcel or LSC.

Quote:
while doing the basic i week teaching course

It took me 5 months to become a fully accredited A1 assessor and that's on top of the Btcec/VRQ and NVQ before I could even start my assessing and prior to the course I will have to complete for the delivery of the Btec. Obviously I've gone through different chanels than quick fix quals, again if you aren't happy about the standards of the assessors complain to Edexcel or LSC

Quote:
i dont feel it is right to judge peoples evidence it can be fabricated (and yes i would know all about that type of thing)

You would know this how exactly. Did you fabricate for somebody or did somebody fabricate for you

Unmotivated, unenthusiastic and badly trained drivers present a poor image for the taxi trade and can even drive passengers away straight into the arms of the PH section, who, mark my words will take full advangtage of free training.

The PH industry will flourish at the expense of the taxi trade. Don't take my word for it though just sit back on your laurels and watch.

Customers are becoming more discerning in what they pay for and they won't want to pay for a smelly, unkempt taxi driven by a driver who doesn't give a sh*t.

Every weekend I watch while customers queue for a PH to pick them up when there are lines of HC waiting for fares. I don't know why they do this, do you?

But the training is a one off, so after a week/month or two drivers will revert back to their normal behaviour, and if they are forced to the course they will revert back in minutes/hours.

That's been the case for the last 33 years without NVQs. :D
