Of course, the down side to this vehicle will be that anyone trying to challenge the turning circle requirement will now lose the argument because it has now been shown that other vehicles can conform.

I'm agreeing with you again! I wonder if there's something in the water?

Anyone prepared to bet that the rear steering rarely ever gets used outside of testing?

I was thinking the same thing. It could be the case that in time other Manufacturers will use the same technology. It would appear that having the ability to turn in a 25 foot circle is all that is required to conform to the PCO conditions however there is no mandatory condition which says you have to use it, if indeed it is operated manually?

All in all getting it through the conditions of fitness is one thing, actually using it is another.

Where are the photos and the video of this cab in action surely someone has a blackberry phone to take them and get them on here.

BTW the turning circle on the standard version is dam good for a vehicle of its size

What is with these orange stripes?

The TW range has them as well.

A Lincoln cabbie has recently purchased a black TW200 with the same orange stripes. It also has a front and rear orange toplight and "doors opening roofsign.

Many punters are mistaking it for a breakdown truck!!!! And no wonder. Any converted van that has to put 12" high "TAXI" stickers on every panel can only be producing a vehicle that does not much look like a taxi. London cab drivers rely more than most on flag downs, I would have thought. Any driver in a Vito Van is going have to work the ranks, I would guess.

Be honest now, does the above picture scream "Taxi, Taxi, Taxi" or "Van, Van, Van"

I'm under the impression that the same company is doing both conversions

It has a for hire light on top and the words Taxi written on the sides therefore to me it looks like a taxi. Perhaps I'm not very good at recognising taxis when I see one? I don't know how I would cope if I ever went abroad.

Utter twaddle. London's punters will soon get used to them, same as everywhere else. Where do you get the notion that anything that doesn't look like a left over from the 1930s can't be a taxi?

I was'nt aware that the ones that KPM will be selling will have this orange stripe down the side.

The one pictured at the Battersea launch did'nt.

The one MrT posted may be a country cab.

Did anyone venture down to Battersea Park to view this vehicle and what is the verdict?

I understand the markings are a condition of license so as not to confuse the public but I'm sure someone in your neck of the woods can confirm that.

I also understand there is a pic of this vehicle on the Mercedes website but I couldn't find it.

I can't see anything within the London COF that would compel them to letter the side of the cab, besides once they have a livery or wrap applied it would cover the lettering. That would then have to apply to all cabs licensed under the COF.

I never made it to the launch, having bought a newish cab back in Feb that'll be me for another 3/4 years at least.

Someone on the London misery and moaners unite forum made it though, and his musings can be found here:
