Whatever happens with regard to the % of WAV's to saloon HC is it likely to make any difference when a council is already 100% WAV :?

Maybe if a person looks at the Liverpool vs. Lunt judgement, finds a nice old lady with a few mates who cannot, due to their disability get into either an E7 or a TX........then takes it to the council citing the judgement and the council policy as discriminatory.

Consideration will certainly be given to that suggestion, would the Newcastle case not help as well?

It may help a little, if only to prove theres people out there that cannot get into certain vehicles.

Crewe And Nantwich MP Pledges Support To Local Taxi Drivers

CREWE and Nantwich MP Edward Timpson has been holding meetings with taxi drivers in the area to discuss their growing concerns over the number of licenses being issued.

The local MP met with Erika Wenzel, chief executive of Cheshire East Council last Friday, to put the taxi drivers’ case.

Following the meeting, the council announced that they would be extending the current consultation on taxi provision in Congleton to cover the whole borough of Cheshire East.

And they promised that a more wide ranging review would include looking at the terms and conditions of licensing as well as the number of taxi rank spaces available to licensed taxi drivers.

Council leaders also said they would establish whether they could legally impose a temporary cap on the issuing of licenses for the duration of the consultation.

After the meeting, Mr Timpson said: “I am delighted that the Council have listened to the legitimate concerns raised by licensed taxi drivers in our area and have agreed to widen out the review of taxi licensing in Cheshire East to include Crewe and Nantwich.

“Crewe and Nantwich has far more licensed cabs than anywhere else in Cheshire East, and during the recession it has been particularly tough for them, with more taxi drivers vying for less trade.

“The situation needs looking at carefully.

“By involving local taxi drivers in this review, I hope that an outcome can be reached that really gets to the heart of their concerns and in doing so provides the public with a valued and accessible taxi service.”
