(1 hr break). Total income = £76.40p. Fuel = £3. 15p. Therefor, 76.40 divided by 8 (hrs) = 37.67.

Cannae' believe that some folk took my last post as being serious !
The "Arithmetic" was flawed, Really !. Ah well, seems my attempt of adding some humour was wasted. (Google Tommy Cooper & George Carlin, and read the post again).

Fairplay: Unfortunately humour, frequently, doesn't work when added to a Forum, without a Tag warning of it.

Sorry we failed to appreciate your "bon mots".

Thanks for the Tommy Cooper link.

Here's something different http://www.wimp.com/throwstick/ It took me a while to work out what was going on!

Maybe it's the difference between a restricted growth and a de-restricted free for all  Thank god for the 40%, this is why the PHC free for all has stopped, it's no longer financially viable, the original intention of the PHC trade was not what it has become and in retrospect a mistake, but trust me Jim it is all about to come crashing down, our trade will rise again as it alway's has to be a trade again, us who survive will have the last laugh

The PH free for all has stopped. You're a fecking lunatic.

When the upturn does come, in around 5 years from now, PH will have 300 cars in their fleet before thick twa ts like you can even mobilise a survey.

D*ckhead Dougie. You're a fecking d*ckhead.

I dom't know why you even bother. Because this trade will de-restrict. It's only a question of when.

And then this corrupt council will abandon you to the slaughter.

Don't say you weren't warned.

BTW

The Skull reckons we're now in a low paid job, with no benefits, no pension, no sick pay, no redundancy, zilch.

I wonder how many cabbies in Dougie's utopia of restriction and "managed growth" are now on benefits to supplement what they're not getting from their employment?

The status quo, not the Skull, nor me, nor Ali T has delivered us into the jaws of poverty, through depriving us of our inalienable right to ply our trade equally with all others.

That's the fundamental injustice. It's only a matter of time before cretins like Dougie and Captain Cab, who both fully realise the threat we are to them hence their stoic defence of the indefensible, that their day is done.

And with the illusion of ownership gone, so will their illusory status.

BTW2 It would appear that illness does nothing to improve writing skills.

Yes, kind of thought you were taking the pish - anyone whose logic and arithmetic was that poor wouldn't be able to give change etc.

However, the responses clearly show that you've yet to perfect the art of getting people to laugh with you rather than at you

Don't worry though, you're not alone: I've been trying to achieve that for years as well :D

As I have recently had to help a couple of young Cabby's with their Log Book, I took it for real.

Many here don't offer change, or turn their Meter on for that matter, just quote a figure and drive.

Mind you, there's quite a high Driver turnover here, at the Junior end of the scale anyway, must earn the South Ayrshire Council a small fortune.

Some folk took your last post seriously because sane people recognise you and Dougie as being a pair of idiots.

Meanwhile back at the ranch and 5 years later Jim is still spouting the same old pash about how the trade will de-restrict

Dream on

Dougie you don't have restricted growth when competing with a competitor that is unrestricted. What you have is a reduction in your market share with fewer jobs per Taxi. “Growth” in your market is therefore, not attributed to demand, but the internal pressure from a swelling labour pool of drivers competing for fewer shifts. Hiked rentals, inflated plate premiums and battles with the council over plates.

This is a battle of business models, Ph vs Taxi, and guess who's losing their numerical presence in the market and their customer base to the competition?

Ultimately, it is a battle for bums on seats.

“Restriction” means high rentals and forcing people to by a job, which is theirs by right. While ” De-restriction" is simply a level playing field where everyone is competing in a free market.

Whilst I agree somewhat with this comment the only people that benefit from the ph model are the limited number of owners of the ph companies. More vehicles does not necessarily generate more work for the drivers, but, it does generate bigger profits for the company and it's owners. The same principal applies with taxi drivers. More vehicles may not necessarily create more work it will just dilute the work that is currently available. Better working practice and knowledge of the potential work available may create more work, imo

I agree but there comes a point where working models and practices collide. Then it's every man for himself. No one should be allowed the opportunity to prop themselves up on the back of casual labour while ignoring the competition. :-|

Not true Toots.

You may be right about adding vehicles diluting PH work, benefiting only the owners, particularly the companies.

But this is not the same for taxis. Because of quality controls, which I've always advocated should be stricter, it is not assured that giving drivers their own vehicles dilutes the work to the same degree. Same drivers, same shifts, different saddle.

BTW Guess who's taxi was parked up in the drive at 10pm last night on a busy Friday opening night of the Fest.
