dundee is a total mess ,between dougie igles stating in the press (trade is ok taxi buisness is the same as last year)(he is on the liasion comitee) while the dta/wheelchair chair persons moan about the lack of trade and now the saloon ops /drivers are refusing to attend a disability course, i only hope dundee council dont take offence to this and bring in the all wav policy http://www.thecourier.co.uk/output/2008 ... 6473t0.asp |

i dont see the problem you might not always drive a saloon car i found the wheel chair course here quite good. i have also been on courses where i have had to play the part of the dissabled person and it does give you a insight in to what a diff life people who are dissabled have at the end of the day this trade is full of rules and stuff that we dont like just get it done and you dont have to do it again. quote 1. "A Dundee City Council spokesman confirmed all taxi drivers in Dundee have to take part in disability awareness courses as it is a condition of their licence. 2 and the cost is included in the taxi driver licence fee |

I'm only glad there's an abundance of overly compliant types like yourself taking up the slack.
Oh and btw, the cab office, don't call me up if they get a complaint about me either. I would tell them where to sling it, and I think Audrey knows.
If taxi drivers were required to have a backbone before sitting the knowledge, the taxi trade would be calling the shots . . . not the council. |

What is the point of a saloon hackney op doing a course to show the operator how to strap a wheelchair into a taxi when its not possible to do it in a saloon public hire taxi |

Wheelchair customers want to be treated with dignity. I want to be treated with dignity. When when we all agree what "dignity" is (the quality of being worthy of esteem or respect) then that's what we'll have.
