Just to give you some idea about the kind of guy Mr Browne is (he is the guy who is taking York Council to court over the colour and emissions) he drives a VW transporter which used to be licensed for 7 passengers, he became fed up of getting lots of 7 seater work partly because most of his work during the day was fo short distances which he constantly refuses telling people "its only round the corner hardly worth me moving, walk" so he decided he wanted his vehicle to be re licensed for 4 passengers, however he told the council that if he folded the seats down that would suffice, no they said take them out, so after much argument he took all the seats out of the vehicle and now drives round in a big fuel guzzling van with only four seats and in doing this he is convinced he has beaten the system, when he first appeared at court to put his case to the magistrates for the colour issue he stood up and said that he thought it was not fair to insist on all being one colour, when asked to expand on this he said "thats it its just not fair" on being told to go and get legal advice he convinced himself that meant he had a chance of winning. I think the reason he wants to go it alone is because no one believes he has a cat in hells chance, but him being him will not be told. |

Interesting. 99.99% of the time we have drivers with 7/8 seats desperate for the council to license them for that many seats. First time I've ever heard of a driver with 7/8 seats asking the council to license it for 4.
As for the comments attributed to him in the court, I suspect the court is well aware of folks not knowing what the law is and how the course of justice must proceed. I just hope the gent is equally aware. |

Unfortunately the gentleman is not in a minority, experience tells me a great number of the hackney carriage trade are like this. CC |

The man who represents himself in Court has an idiot for a client. |

I don't think anyone is "kicking him to death". It is just that most of us can see the reality of the situation. |

Tell me all about the reality of it then Grandad. The reality is that if he goes to court and says that the policy is not fair without substanciating this statement, he will lose. |

True, but perhaps one of the many York based members may like to inform him of this forums existance then? Then we could have both sides of the story.
