Cabbies' calendar meters are 'expensive' Plans to install "calendar controlled" meters in taxis across part of Lancashire are to be reconsidered over cost concerns. Last year Wyre Council approved plans to fit the meters, which automatically add extras – for late night and Christmas and New Year fares – to all taxis in the borough. But there are concerns from some in the trade that the meters, costing £300 to £400 each, are too expensive. Only Blackpool and Burnley councils require cabs to have the meters, with Fylde Council requiring them only in Hackney cabs. The plans will be debated at a council licensing committee meeting tomorrow. Peterborough Communications! MR320 ( calendar controlled) Taxi Meter Fitted From £200.00 |

I have to wonder how old their meters are. I don't think you can buy a new one now that isn't calendar controlled. |

Certain Cygnus models are non calendar; but the price difference is negligable. CC |
