From what I have read on another forum, it would seem that the government has decided to opt out of part of the EU transport bullsh1t and side facing seats are to be allowed. Horray for stretched limousines.

Showing my ignorance again but I didn't know side seats weren't allowed in limos or that they were thinking of not allowing them. I have to say the only limo I was in wasn't comfy til I was pi$$ed cos the seats are too close to the floor :D

They are not illegal. There is a new Euro directive coming into force either later this year or next year that was to ban the use of side facing seats in certain categories of vehicle. I think buses and trains were already exempt. But stretched limousines and camper vans were not included in that exemption.
