Footballer accused of flashing at female taxi driver on night out

A SOCCER starlet has been accused of flashing his tackle at a woman taxi driver.

Queen of the South defender Gerry McLauchlan subjected the cabbie to a torrent of abuse after a night out with team-mates.

The cab driver was forced to lock her doors and drive to a police station.

Shaven-headed McLauchlan, 20, was arrested and later admitted breach of the peace and was given a £40 fixed penalty fine.

The incident happened as McLauchlan, Queens striker Stewart Kean and another player took a taxi to Drongan, Ayrshire, after a night out in nearby Ayr.

Last night, the shocked cabbie was too upset to comment.

But a colleague said: "Some of these third-rate footballers seem to think they're Ronaldinho and that entitles them to behave as badly as they like.

"The driver was so scared she contacted colleagues on her car phone who told her to lock the doors and drive to the police station.

"This guy's behaviour went far beyond what is acceptable or funny. He's nothing but a disgusting and bad-mannered lout."

A spokesman for the Dumfries club said: "We don't know anything about this. I will be relaying this information to the chairman."

A police spokesman said: "We can confirm a 20-year-old man was arrested and issued with a fixed penalty notice in connection with an alleged breach of the peace following an incident in a taxi."

Yesterday, McLauchlan denied flashing at the cabbie on February 4.

The player said: "We were just winding her up and she took offence.

"She accused us of a lot of things. None of that happened.

"I didn't get a fixed penalty ticket - we got a warning for shouting and swearing. That was it."

This job is hard enough and we don't need theses kind of idiots the taxi driver maybe did not know that they were trying to wind her up .Behavior like this is not acceptable and should not be tolerated.
