Well yes I am as puzzeled as you. I suppose all London Taxi drivers must have received the letter from the PCO. They explain the 'One strike and you're out' and on anothe A4 sheet which they call 'PCO NEWS (TAXI)'
On the back of this sheet is titled 'Golden oldies' and I quote. " The PCO is inviting a number of drivers with over 40 years of service to mark their retirements on 2 April at Penton Street"
How would you read this?
I expect that it is just bad text or writing.
Or could it mean that if you have done 40 years, you must hand in your badge and bill then clear off.
So if you got your badge and bill at the earlyest age of 21, plus 40 years = 61. Thats it. Good bye.
Who writes this PCO information?
P.S. Am I bothered. Nah! I have already retired. So why am I still getting letters from the PCO?

I noticed that and as I was licensed at 21,I can't possibly afford to retire at 61 especially in the present financial situation.

I think it's because PCO/TfL are all public sector workers with little or no experience of the real world they think everyone can take early retirement or retire after 40 years work.

I think it more to thank them for their service, as in those who have completed 40 years and not renewed their bills.

When's your comeback? :D

Don't be misled by my picture.
It was taken years ago when I was a young thruster...
