Post subject:  Significant unmet demand

Has anyone had sight of the report following the survey carried out in Edinburgh in December?

I understand that it suggests that there would be enough work to go round if more taxi licences were issued. I would require to see the actual text of the report, but I am not sure if they use the term "significant unmet demand", which is, of course, the statutory concept of some relevance to the Regulatory Committee's decision.

If the report simply suggests that there may be an unmet demand, the next question is what makes that significant? The answer to that question must, of course, come from the Committee itself having applied its mind to the statutory test and doing so with regard to all relevant considerations, and excluding any which are not relevant.

I watch with interest.

There is no SUD. All will become apparent in April, even though the survey does not finish untill July.

Or so we are told. Has anyone actually seen this report?

Based on December’s results we would conclude that additional licences would be required. However this will be addressed once all rank observations have been undertaken.
