Ads bid by Burnley taxi firm opposed




A BID by a taxi firm to put adverts on its hackney cabs is set to be thrown out.

Kings Taxis and Bubble Travel, based in Yorkshire Street, Burnley, wants to splash adverts across vehicles in an attempt to raise its profile.

However, officers have advised members of Burnley Council’s licensing committee not to allow it because of fears over visibility.

A report says: “The proposed advert completely obscures the view into the cab via the rear window.

“It is essential that enforcement officers have a clear and unobstructed view into licensed vehicles to ensure compliance.”

Members meet at Burnley Town Hall on Thursday.
