Blackburn taxi driver jailed for 'speeding dodge' A TAXI driver has been jailed for trying to dodge speeding tickets. Mohammed Rauf Khan, 38, of Revidge Road, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to perverting the course of justice on two separate occasions. He was sent to prison for 17 weeks and disqualified from driving for six months. After the case, Police Constable Mark Pilkington said: “Mr Khan was a respected member of the community, who had not previously come to the attention of the police. “He was afraid that having committed the speeding offences he would lose his driving licence and consequently his livelihood. “He provided false details to police in an attempt to evade prosecution and in doing so not only lost his licence, but his freedom too. “Police will continue to robustly investigate offences of this nature in an attempt to make Lancashire’s roads a safer place to be. This should act as a warning to motorists who off load the blame for speed camera offences that they could end up in prison.” At 8.45am on February 28 last year Khan was clocked travelling 41mph in a 30mph zone by a mobile speed camera in Livesey Branch Road, Blackburn, police said. Khan submitted paperwork naming another man as the driver, although when police compared the camera image to an image of Khan, it was clear he was the driver. At 1.53pm on June 17, Khan drove 38mph in a 30mph limit in School Lane, Guide. He denied he was driving and submitted paperwork naming another person as the driver. Again, police inquiries revealed he was clearly driving the car at the time of the offence. |

There have been a number of these prosecutions, and one has to hope there will be many more. |

Send the person who took the offence off of him to prison as well that will deter them perhaps |

surely the person who was going to, or did, stand the points was guilty of perjury, perverting the course of justice and conspiracy? |

One would think so but not necessarily. They may just get fined anyway so it's hardly a deterrent

I suspect that person doesn't exist or no-longer lives in this country.
