He was awarded his legal costs of £3,359 as the court agreed the council's licensing department had not investigated the case properly.

Is this the same council that advises PH vehicles to pick up from taxi ranks, with or without a booking? :?

Union welcomes St Albans taxi driver's victory

A ST ALBANS taxi driver's successful fight to be allowed to work again despite claims he fought passengers has been welcomed by the GMB union.

Terence Flanagan of the GMB, of which Mr Mohammed Zaman is a member, said: "We are pleased the court upheld the appeal.

"This case illustrates the serious concerns we have with the licensing department of St Albans District Council."

I see the IoL has elected a new Chair for their Home Counties Region. ](*,)

One would hope she would sort out her own manor before sticking her hooter elsewhere. ](*,)

The new regional chair has taken the lead with her team in St Albans in significantly helping to reduce alcohol-related crime and disorder in the district.

And how does advising PH to pick up from taxi ranks, with or without a booking, fit into that little lead? :?

The coverage of the St Albans story is only one of the successes we've had recently, but in the case of our member there its quite obvious to ME that the Licensing regime within St Albans is an embarrassment to the Council this is the second time that Karen Hollands has been overturned on cases against this member. I believe this officer should be removed from office immediately, the judgement of the Court was highly condemning of her activities following on from the recording of her EX fellow officer Paul Holbern advocating PH pick up from hack ranks this department are clearly a disgrace! Our lawyers described the decision of Ms Hollands to suspend our member as perverse! naturally the Court it appears agreed. So there we are GMBPDB representation achieves justice for another member. The question now is can we successfully sue the council for the members loss of earnings, we await legal advice on that one!!!

Second case a member wrongly diagnosed as an alcoholic and loses his licence because of the MALPRACTICE of his GP, we supported legal action on this and the member now has his licence back!! only problem he has lost 2 years work. so now we investigate suing the GP.

Third case the Fi---ys try to fit up in London a member on using a mobile whilst driving, so again we roll out the lawyers and hey presto case dropped!!!

Fourth case Driver gets tail ended on M11 substantial injuries loss of work he is now £22000 better off as of this week!

Fifth case Driver books holiday governor agrees, then says sorry you cant have it member is £2000 pounds down we zoom in say bollocks mush either you allow him his holiday or you pay him £2000 loss of holiday payment AND £1000 inconvenience money! so he did!! So member now books £3000 holiday!!!!!!!!!!!

Sixth case Driver called in your redundant as of now REALLY ever heard of consultation periods??? you want to visit an Industrial Tribunal???? er no actually!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just a normal week for the GMB Professional Drivers Branch members assisted looked after exploiters abusers put in their place. the message join the GMBPDB now

As regards our member recently granted his licence back in Watford Magistrates Court some may be interested in the report of our solicitors it quotes;

The Magistrates reached their decision having heard the evidence from Mr****** AND ON BEHALF OF THE COUNCIL FROM MRS HOLLANDS< the licensing officer involved>

In reaching their decision the magistrates were damning of Mrs Hollands and her investigation< They reached the conclusion that this matter had not been properly investigated and owing to the fact that in evidence under cross examination< Mrs Hollands had agreed that the passengers had started the the violence and that MR****** was being strangled!!! The magistrates further commented that they found Mr ******* evidence totally plausible>

there's lots more to this report which I might publish in the future you can rest assured that the GMB will pursue this COUNCILS licensing section vigorously
