Rugby fans urged to complain over taxi problems REVELLERS who experienced problems with taxis in Cardiff on the weekend Wales played Ireland in the Six Nations Championship are being urged to contact Cardiff council. The authority’s licensing department is leading a clampdown on unscrupulous drivers and said while it had not received any complaints, it is aware that there were problems with over-charging and refusal of fares. Councillor Ed Bridges, chairman of the public protection committee, said: “All licensed taxi drivers are bound within a set of rules which protect the public’s interests and regulate the taxi trade. “Cardiff council investigates all complaints concerning taxi drivers and I would urge anyone to complain if they are dissatisfied with the service they receive.” While the vast majority of hackney carriage and private hire drivers meet the high service standards laid down by the licensing department, some drivers are suspected of not using their meters, over-charging or cherry-picking the most profitable fares. Most of the incidents coincide with major events at the Millennium Stadium. Last year, the authority investigated 240 complaints and imposed appropriate penalties. Anyone who experiences poor service should note as many details as possible, including the taxi’s registration or licence plate number and call the licensing department on 029 2087 1651. |

If they were that concerned, why didn't they send out a team to do test purchases at the time. It is just another way of the council "appearing" to be doing something when in fact they are doing nothing. |

Why do it yourself if you can get somebody to do it for you

My guess would be those from out of town who will never even read the comments from the council. So there is not much chance of them taking down the required information or noting the telephone number......................And the drivers know this.
