Further measures proposed include preventing taxi drivers/operators making money from the trading or renting of taxi plates and introducing financial and quality controls for those applying for a taxi licence

I kinda like this bit if it could be implemented cos I'm not a fan of trading or selling plates.

I think this could work there it's only a little island and maybe it could be used like an experiment for the Uk. Oh well all we can do is watch and see

The measures involve removing the distinction between private hire taxis, which are booked over the phone, and ply-for-hire taxis — which wait for business at ranks — to create a 'single-tier taxi service for the Isle of Man'.

youd think hacks ONLY got work off a rank or by plying sometimes

i can see it catching on though, and not a bad thing either, remove all the confusion

Controls would include the requirement for vehicles less than two years old to be wheelchair-friendly, taxis more than 10 years old would not be re-licensed for further use as a taxi and the introduction of a £10,000 surety bond to dissuade frivolous taxi driver applicants.

I wonder if all the inhabitants are disabled, and it will mean forking out for a wav then 10k on top

It's not nice to call people 'thick' even if they are and London standards should be increased with regards to their PH system I think it's terrible :D

No, but our taxes (as in H.M.R.C for the hard of spelling) keep the rest of the UK running when times are tough.
