Post subject:  Appeal over taxi driver attacks

A taxi driver has been seriously assaulted after confronting a man who threw a brick at his car, police said.

The 64-year-old was driving his hire car in Kingspark Avenue in the south of Glasgow at about 0030 BST on Saturday, when a man threw the brick.

The driver got out and he was assaulted by the man.

In a separate incident, a taxi driver was attacked by two passengers as he dropped them off in Glasgow's Kincraig Street at about 0215 BST on Sunday.

The driver had collected the male and female passengers from Linthaugh Road, Glasgow, at about 0200 BST.

When he was dropping them off, the man assaulted the driver with a blunt instrument and he was then dragged from his private hire taxi, a grey Skoda Octavia, and attacked by both passengers.

This appears to be a completely unprovoked attack on the taxi driver who was simply out earning a living that night

The 60-year-old suffered head and facial injuries and needed hospital treatment.

The suspects - a 17 to 21-year-old man with dark hair and a white shift and a 17 to 21-year-old female - made off with a three-figure sum of money.

Det Sgt Alan McAlpine from Strathclyde Police, who appealed for witnesses to come forward, said: "This was an unprovoked and particularly senseless attack on an innocent member of the public who was simply out doing his job and providing a service to this couple."

The driver attacked in King's Park also needed hospital treatment.

Pc Duncan Bruce also appealed for witnesses to contact police.

"This appears to be a completely unprovoked attack on the taxi driver who was simply out earning a living that night," he said.

"The attack took place in a residential area and I would appeal to any local residents who may have seen or heard the disturbance at around 0030 BST on Saturday morning to get in touch with poli

I hope the drugs that scumbag buys with the drivers takings is contaminated with nasty things, and the scumbag robs no more. :sad:
