Jeremy Kyle TV show leaves taxi driver with money issues

Cabbie still waiting to be paid £560 for long-haul trip

AN OBAN taxi driver has been left out of pocket after making a 625-mile round trip to Manchester with a family due to appear on the Jeremy Kyle television show.

Granada Television promised to foot the £560 fare, but since making the journey on October 18, driver Tommy Wood, 62, is still waiting to be paid.

Mr Wood collected the couple and their baby from Soroba Road and took them to the TV studios where the ITV1 show is filmed. Jeremy Kyle helps his guests with family and relationship issues.

Mr Wood, a self-employed cabbie who worked with Argyll Taxis at the time and has since moved to Lorn Taxis, said: “No wonder so many firms go to the wall. I paid for the fuel and I had to stay a night in a hotel. It is quite a lot of money. They said they would send the cheque in the return post as soon as they received the invoice.

“I have phoned Granada TV. They said the cheque was sent out on November 24 — 11 days ago. The post doesn’t take that long to get here.

“Last week I asked them to cancel that cheque and send out another one, but it still hasn’t been done.”

A spokeswoman for the TV show said: “We sent Argyll Taxis the cheque on November 24, which was within the period indicated in the payment terms. They told us they didn’t receive it. That cheque was then stopped.

“We had to wait for it to be reversed before we could issue another one. We are sending it out next week.”

She was unable to confirm when the show involving the Oban couple will be aired.

Argyll Taxis confirmed that as soon as it receives payment, it will forward it to Mr Wood.

sorry to ressurect an old thread but as a new member i have been reading through the old threads and came across this one

i do on average 5 or 6 fares a year on behalf of the jeremy kyle show to manchester from ayrshire aswell as follow up shows where i obtain statement release signatures etc basically document signatures within ayrshire and i have done this work for them for the last 4 or 5 years with no problems recieving payment, their terms stated to me are payment will be recieved at the end of the month following the month the invoice is recieved and is always recieved in time by myself never by return of post as stated above

if anyone knows the guy who had the problem as stated above and by a slim chance he still is having problems drop me a pm and i will supply contact names and telephone numbers for the production office at itv who may be able to assist him further

BACS is the way to go nowdays unless that is you don't have a bank account. The firm I do work for always pays on the button by BACS.

I don't think it's so much the JK show at fault here, it's either Granada or the firm he worked for at the time, it wouldn't suprise me if someone with a grudge has intercepted the cheque, £500 to Granada is loose change so I can't see why they would try to bump the guy.
