Our council have set this at, as in the driver is entitled to charge, 30p. A new company in the town are advertising they won't charge the fee. (I seldom do in any case, in and around the town, that is) Thing is is this common practice to charge a call out, and if so how much around the country is the fee?

BTW the new company is a split from another company in the town, not a entirely new entity.

I think in London is around £3-4.

TBH I think it's a daft charge, which is probably why many charge it.

We have a problem with people calling more than one taxi and getting in whichever turns up first, if we can get the call out it's charged at minimum fare which is £2.70 before midnight and £3.20 after :D

Its the best way to do it full fare and be dammed. Trouble is they dont always pay. Thats till they realise that the cab company has locked their address out of the system till they pay up. By the way thats a low minimum fare Toots!

£2.70 for the 1st half mile minimum fare. It doesn't worry me so much I get tips more often than not :D

Spare a thought for the Delta drivers in Sefton theirs is about £2.10 for the 1st mile
