Vicious attack on Chichester Cabbie

In the early hours of 10th May 2009, a drunken reveller attacked Licensed Hackney Carriage driver Paul Cotton, 30.

After refusing to pay a £20 fare he began to damage the interior of the vehicle before assaulting Mr Cotton, who was attempting to drive to a local police station to resolve the situation.

After being repeatedly punched, Mr Cotton lost control of his vehicle and crashed, causing extensive damage to the cab, and some injuries to his person.

Mr Cotton’s ordeal was not over however, as when he attempted to detain the trouble maker he was repeatedly punched, kicked and bitten, until police arrived and arrested the individual.

Mr Cotton has had stitches to wounds on his mouth and head, a broken finger and extensive bruising.

The Chichester Hackney Alliance, of which Mr Cotton is a valued member, extends their best wishes to Paul and his family at this time of ordeal, and hopes he makes a speedy recovery.

Has this been reported to the police?

Has the scumbag been arrested/charged?

Do you know where he lives?

Hi Sussex

The police attended and arrested the scumbag, and I believe he has been charged.
What is eventually metered out is anybody’s guess, but I am sure we all agree that this nasty piece of work should be heavily punished for an unprovoked attack on a bloke just trying to earn an honest crust.

Sleepy Chichester eh……………….
