Taxi Driver 'robbed by Hertford youths'

A taxi driver was allegedly held at knifepoint and robbed by youths in Hallowe’en costumes on Hertford’s Sele Farm estate.

The youths cut the hand of the Asian man, who had gone to collect a customer from either Farm Close or Hutton Close last Friday or Saturday, and stole money, it has been claimed.

A man, who did not wish to be named, said that the Luton taxi driver was not going to report the incident to the police as he was scared of what would happen.

He also claimed the driver worked for Lovesgroves Cabs, which is based at Hertford North train station in North Road. The taxi firm refused to comment.

A Herts police spokeswoman said: “We would urge people who believe they have been a victim of a crime to contact police at the earliest opportunity so that we can investigate and provide the appropriate support.”
