Even though the new office licence came into effect on the 16TH of November, not one operator has received word or an application form
There are several large company's here in the Borders are they now breaking the law by not having the licence????????

Our application was by the end of last month. Our main rivals didn't know they had to apply until our Notice of Intent was displayed in the office window. They were waiting for the Council to send the paperwork out as standard procedure. Could this be the reason?

As for your question, I would say yes. All applications received prior to 16 Nov, covered the companies, even though the Licensing knew they had no chance of processing all of them by the due date.

Licencing have not contacted anyone yet, or made an announcement in the press, so its not a delay in processing them, the council is slow on the take up here
Even though I sent a copy of the link to all in the licencing department when it was first announced on TDO

No but they may be if they haven't applied for one yet.
Someone in your council needs to get their finger out.

It's the other way round. The Company has to apply to the Council. If they don't the Council won't issue the application pack, and subsequently the licence. Ignorance, (on the owner's part) in this case isn't bliss, it could be closure (for the company office)..

edited, cos I thought suicide was a tad dramatic.

How can they apply for something they dont know about even though I have informed them

As it was passed by The Scottish Government and passed into law months ago, the council should have said something, I agree. Ours went to the local rag and made it front page news. Still dosn't excuse the owners for not following up your advice tho.

me neither, but if it "cleans up" the trade, then it can only be a good thing.
