Ten taxi and private hire vehicles failed a licence check in a road safety operation in Windsor last Friday. The multi-agency check saw 47 vehicles stopped, with drivers who failed suspended until they had complied with the conditions of the suspension. The sting was done by Thames Valley Safer Roads Partnership (TVSRP), roads policing department, taxi licensing officers from the Royal Borough and employees of the Vehicle Operator Services Agency (VOSA). Drivers' licences, insurance documents, badges and plates were checked during the operation, and each motorist given an alcohol test. Owners were given a total of 12 Fixed Penalty Notices of £60 with three penalty points for tyre offences, three were given points for not having their badges and seven found not to be Royal Borough licensed vehicles. PC Bob Wade, road safety constable for the TVSRP, said: "It is very disappointing that roughly 20 per cent of vehicles checked had issues with them." |
