Tulse Hill taxi driver declared 'hero' after accident A Tulse Hill taxi driver has been declared "a hero" after he came to the rescue of a disabled woman who had an accident. Abudnoor Lutwama, 43, of Palace Road, saved the woman who had fallen from her wheelchair and trapped her leg after he went to her flat in Challice Way, Tulse Hill, to pick her up as a fare. He tried to speak to her through the entry phone system at Kynaston House on Friday but there was no answer. After several calls to her phone he became alarmed and went to her front door to investigate, where he said he heard her screaming for help. He called an ambulance and waited with her until it arrived. He said: "I just wanted to check she was alright." Osei Bobie, controller at Browns taxi company in Station Rise, Tulse Hill said: "Minicab drivers do not usually get good press, but I believe this deserves credit for quick thinking which might have saved the life of one of our customers." |
