A meeting has been organised by representatives of the Dundee taxi trade for the Tue 30th March in the Dee club at 7pm.On the agenda is getting the town capped and whether we should put in for a tariff rise. It is hoped that there is a good turn out to discuss these issues.It is for badge holders only. P.s do not shoot the messenger

P.s do not shoot the messenger Have you a “knowledge” test in Dundee? The reason I ask, is that capping numbers is only a temporary solution. Everyone knows demand surveys don't work and are not the answer. In the end, it all comes down to driver availability, and a swelling labour pool. Plate “owners” end up hiking rentals, and plate premiums, to suite their own vested interests. Is this what you want for Dundee, stationtone? |

Plate Premium!!! A plate's value is only based on what someone else is willing to pay, with no risk to the investor who then sells the right of use on (if he wishes) for what he is willing to accept, win win
De-restriction might work in your head but in reality De-restriction doesn't work in a limited market

Yeah Man i'm smokin Dundee like any individual city/town has a limited taxi Trade with an over supply of Taxi/phc, their trade is fecked and i'm sure a plate value in Dundee won't rise for years to come

An artificial plate value exists, only in so far as, qualified drivers are denied unfettered access to the tools of their trade. Don't you think it's about time the value was in the brief, and not the plate?

a tarrif rise will be suicide for the trade, as you well know the public are not going out as much due to costs, not the smoking ban, i cant see tellng them its going to cost more to go out solving our problem,every time a tarrif increase is disscussed at a meeting it seems to be the same individuals who vote for it 1 part timers (im a greedy person i have a full time job so what if it all goes tits up) 2 ops who no longer drive their cabs personally i would like both these types to be banned from the meeting as for caping the town ,remember the tele,s front page headlines a few years ago (200 taxi plates out of 507 illeagly hired out)i cant see the council agreeing to this even though its a new snp administration,the dundee taxi trade made its own coffin by letting the hired plate situation grow so big,even if it was capped court acion would virtually guarantee any applicant a plate (still a lot of hired saloon plates plus head of dta said at a council meeting he knew of hired out wav plates)add to this the warpath youngys trying to create (did you see fat sams on friday? hacks taking pics of 203020 cabs on double yellow lines/cabbies shouting at 2.00 am plus hacks being moved from dca only to let 203020 rank up wai ting for supossidly fares, anyway ill be at the meeting and hopefully it will turn out to be productive |

The DTA Chairman is in today's Courier moaning about hours and earnings....that's saloon drivers for you..had the opportunity 3 years ago to cap the town if, all Taxis were WAV and decided to keep his saloon ! How many Licences have been issued in that time ?? you now know who to blame for the state of the Trade boys !! And yes ! I will be attending the meeting to inform him of this and his mate who moans continually about numbers yet has 2 plates.... |
